PRISM (People Responding In Social Ministry) was founded in 1970 to provide food and clothing to struggling families and was incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 1983. Over the past 44 years, PRISM has established a proven track record of building partnerships to identify real needs and collaboratively create effective programs to address those needs. PRISM now serves more than 4,500 unduplicated families annually across four core programs and continues to aggressively work to eliminate barriers and empower families to reach long-term financial stability in the communities of Golden Valley, New Hope, Crystal, Robbinsdale, and Plymouth. Our services include:

Emergency Programs (Basic Needs)

• PRISM Marketplace Food Shelf: Low-wage-earners and families in financial crisis receive emergency and supplemental food support.

• PRISM Food for Youth: Runaway/homeless and at-risk youth receive food from the PRISM food shelf along with counseling and support through a partnership with the YMCA Youth Intervention Program.

• Homelessness Prevention (Financial Assistance): Working families receive rental assistance to maintain stable housing through financial crisis by avoiding eviction or foreclosure.

Support Programs

• Shop for Change- PRISM’s Thrift Shop: Families can choose low-cost or free clothing and household items in this volunteer-managed shop that is completely stocked with high quality donated items.

• Children’s Support Programs: Children receive birthday gifts, party supplies, holiday gifts, school supplies and free books.

• Financial Literacy Education: Participants learn vital information about credit repair and budgeting from a certified budget counselor.
