Saunders Trades and Technical High School

The Yonkers Philharmonic invites you to an afternoon of rhythm, passion, and virtuosity on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Saunders Trades and Technical High School.
The program opens with Pablo Moncayo’s Huapango, the exhilarating Mexican showpiece built on the folk dances of Veracruz. Its infectious rhythms and brilliant orchestration have made it a beloved second national anthem in Mexico, and it is guaranteed to set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon.
Next comes Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, a sultry, elegant tribute to the Mexican dance halls of Veracruz and Mexico City. Sensual melodies and shimmering textures make this one of the most popular works by a living composer in the concert repertoire.
Manuel de Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat follows, a vivid ballet score full of flamenco flair, folk melodies, and dramatic color. Its stirring dances capture the spirit of Andalusia in all its pride and humor.
George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, performed by acclaimed pianist Claudia Knafo, adds its famous clarinet glissando and jazz-inflected piano flourishes to the afternoon.Gershwin’s masterpiece fuses classical tradition with the energy of the American jazz age, and Knafo’s artistry promises a thrilling performance.
Bring family and friends for an afternoon of music that dances, sings, and sizzles. Don’t miss this spirited celebration of the Americas and Spain, performed by your own Yonkers Philharmonic.
