Long Beach Middle School

Are you feeling anxious, depressed, or helpless? Stressed out or overwhelmed by your life circumstances or the suffering in the world? Are you looking for a non-judgmental space to just be yourself, to express whatever’s on your heart?
We’re social beings and need to have an outlet for being seen, heard, and understood. This rings true now more than ever. This gathering will provide a safe and sacred space that is free of judgement for slowing down and showing up exactly as you are, to receive and offer support in community. It blends our ancestral need for communing in circle with meditation, movement, reflection, and creativity.
Participants should bring something to sit or lay on (a yoga mat, blanket), something to write with (pens, pencils, markers), and something to write on (journal, pad, notebook). You may also want to bring prose, poetry, song, etc. to share, and any sacred objects that resonate with your healing journey.
All are welcome. No experience is needed. Only an open heart and mind.

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. The Long Beach Latino Civic Association (LBLCA), in partnership with the City of Long Beach, invites the community to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month at the annual Hispanic Heritage Month Kite Flying Festival on Sunday, September 20, from 12-3pm in Long Beach. There will also be a beach cleanup from 2-3pm. Join the Long Beach Latino Civic Association and City of Long Beach for a free, family-friendly celebration featuring kite flying, live entertainment, cultural performances, and a community beach cleanup. This inclusive event brings together residents of all backgrounds to enjoy local vendors and family activities along the beach.
