Rooted in soul and steeped in rock ‘n’ roll, Reckoners is a Boston-based band built from some of the region’s most respected and road-tested musicians.
Fronted by singer and guitarist Tim Gearan, the group features guitarist and band leader Johnny Trama (Bettye LaVette, The Silks, Dub Apocalypse), drummer Tom Arey (Peter Wolf, The J. Geils Band, G. Love, Vapors of Morphine) bassist Marc Hickox (Bettye LaVette, Charlie Musselwhite), and keyboardist Darby Wolf (Bettye LaVette, Rubblebucket). Together, they channel the grit and groove of classic soul and rock into something timeless and deeply personal.
Their self-produced debut album — now streaming on all major platforms — has drawn more than 43,000 monthly listeners and features the standout single “Looking for a Reason” with guest vocals by Susan Tedeschi.
Reckoners have been building momentum across New England with sold-out headline shows and support slots alongside artists including Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Wallflowers, and Bonnie Raitt. Their music and live performances were recently spotlighted in Relix Magazine.

Swampscott Center for the Performing Arts. 153 Humphrey St, Swampscott, MA, 01907

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — S.U.R.E. Diversity invites residents of all ages to celebrate a decade of building connections and strengthening community partnerships at the Community Connections Festival on Saturday, October 17, from 3–6 PM at the new Swampscott Center for Performing Arts (formerly the Hawthorne Restaurant).
The Community Connections Festival celebrates the many people, organizations, businesses, and volunteers who have worked together over the past ten years to help create a more welcoming and connected community.
Guests will enjoy interactive activities designed to bring neighbors together, including a lively Community Drum Circle led by Philip Alexander and a collaborative Community Fiber Mural led by artist Claire Donnelly. Games, conversation starters, and other activities will encourage guests to meet someone new and make connections.
Music from different cultures and traditions will be featured throughout the afternoon. Steve Tapper and Shira Moss will greet guests with flute and percussion inspired by world music. El Bohemio will share Mexican mariachi and ranchera music. Berklee alumnus Philip Alexander will invite everyone to drum, clap, sing, and dance during the Community Drum Circle. Juan Carlos Hurtado of Peru will introduce the traditional 10-string Andean charango, while Christophe Matara of the Central African Republic will share Sango music from his country. Susan Ruth will play the fiddle, and Rupert Deese will close the afternoon with American Old-Time music on fiddle, banjo, guitar, and harmonica.
Different traditions. Different instruments. One community.
Exciting door prizes will be awarded throughout the afternoon, including two tickets to a performance at the Swampscott Center for Performing Arts and gift certificates to local establishments.
The festival will be held at the Swampscott Center for Performing Arts, a beautiful new waterfront venue overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Center has generously donated the use of its space and embraced the spirit of the festival.

Founded in 2016, S.U.R.E. Diversity (Swampscott Unites, Respects, Embraces Diversity) creates opportunities for people of different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to connect through education, dialogue, cultural events, and community partnerships.
Several community partners will join the celebration including the Town of Swampscott, Swampscott Rotary, Swampscott Historical Society will share information about Swampscott’s history and more. Dave Aldrich of Grab the Bagel, a longtime supporter of local nonprofit and community events, will serve Grab the Bagel’s popular Bagel Bites. Other local organizations will also be on hand to share information and ways to become involved.
Whether you’ve been involved with S.U.R.E. Diversity for years or are simply curious to learn more, everyone is welcome. Come celebrate the friendships, partnerships, and community spirit that make Swampscott a place where neighbors connect.
The theme of the afternoon says it all: “Join in and get connected!”
Special thanks to the Swampscott Center for Performing Arts and the many community partners helping make this celebration possible.
All are welcome to this free and lively community event. Light snacks, including Bagel Bites from Grab the Bagel, will be provided. The Dory Room will be open for dining at 5PM, with food and beverages available for purchase. Reservations are suggested for those wishing to dine.

Chelsea Berry is a Maine-based indie singer songwriter known for her powerhouse vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and commanding stage presence. Acclaimed artist Susan Werner once dubbed her “the Pink of folk music”—a nod to Berry’s genre-blending style, emotional depth, and vibrant live energy.
Over a 25-year career that includes thirteen original albums, Berry has built a loyal following all over the country. This October, she returns to her former home on Cape Ann to celebrate the release of her newest album, Peace Soldier. Recorded with engineer and co-producer Rich Lamb in Queens NYC, with overdubs by engineer Warren Babson at Bang-A-Song Studios in Gloucester, Peace Soldier is a collaborative, cinematic, rock-meets-musical-theater production built on empathy, connection, compassion, and community, while showcasing Berry’s powerful and dynamic vocals, innovative spirit, and penchant for bringing people together.
The songs of Peace Soldier and the message they carry will resonate with listeners in a vastly deep and meaningful way. In this release performance, the audience can expect to be confronted with questions, ideas, and collaborative insights centered on humanity, common ground, war, death, love, and the desire for peace. These themes are set within a story arc of songs supported by far more dynamic and complex arrangements than any in Berry's past works. This special release performance will feature her full band plus a cast of guest vocalists. Berry has appeared in Boston publications such as The Noise and Northshore Magazine, and is regularly featured on Sirius XM as well as local radio stations across the country. Known for drawing audiences in “like moths to a flame,” Berry continues to be a favorite among listening rooms nationwide.
A veteran of the road, Berry has toured coast to coast and recorded albums in Boston, New York, Nashville, and Denver. She has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Livingston Taylor, Chris Smither, Mavis Staples, Chris Isaak, Shawn Colvin, and many more.
Originally from Alaska, Chelsea now makes her home just north of Acadia National Park in coastal Maine.
