Broadway will once again raise its voice for the planet with the fifth annual Broadway Celebrates Earth Day concert! Hosted by the Broadway Green Alliance and Times Square Alliance, &nbsp;the free public performance serves as a marquee event for the NYC Department of Transportation’s&nbsp;city wide “<a href="https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/pedestrians/earthday.shtml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Car-Free Earth Day</a>.” For its milestone fifth year, the free public performance moves to one of the most recognizable stages on Earth, bringing Broadway’s voice for the planet directly to the Crossroads of the World. The event will blend performances from Broadway talent with over 100 students and performers from local schools and community groups. The plaza will feature a special exhibit from The Climate Museum and be full of family-friendly activities from leading partners in climate advocacy, including Headcount, Materials for the Arts, and the Wildlife Conservation Society&nbsp;for a complete day of art meeting action. Cathedral of St. John the Divine

Following two sold-out runs, Death of Classical returns to the magnificent Crypt under the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, performing a pair of works that explore the resilience of art in response to destruction.
Missy Mazzoli's Dark with Excessive Bright – here performed in its arrangement for string quintet with violin soloist – takes its title from a line in Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost, where a blind man attempts to describe his vision of God. In a similarly surreal and evocative manner, Mazzoli's music twists, turns, and transforms, casting and chasing shadows across four centuries of musical expression from the Baroque era through to the present day.
Written in the final days of World War II, Metamorphosen was a deeply personal lament from Richard Strauss, as he mourned the destruction of culture that he saw taking place around him. Heard here in its rarely-performed string septet arrangement, it unfolds as a single, continuous meditation on grief – an elegy for art lost to war.Performances will take place from 6pm to 8pm and from 7:30pm to 9:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday. A reception will be offered for the first hour in the main space of the Cathedral and the performance will begin one hour after the event's start time in the Crypt.

Prior to the Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday, May 3, the Cathedral will host the 28th Annual Blessing of the Bicycles from 8:30am to 9:30am. Bikers, skaters, and all self-propelled vehicle users, regardless of religious background, are invited to join in the blessing. The brief ceremony will feature words from Dean Winnie Varghese, as well as the sprinkling of Holy Water on the bikes. There will also be a moment of silence to honor cyclists that have been lost in the past year. In a biographical note the ardent Francophile Fauset shared, "Like the French, I adore dancing." Actually, it turns out that W. E. B. DuBois danced. Countee Cullen danced. Dorothy West danced and more. In honor of the many Harlem Renaissance writers and artists who danced at The Savoy Ballroom (1926-1958) and other places, this event is held in their memory. Calling all sapphics, trans people, and anyone who loves drag, burlesque, or a fun night out! THE D WORD is Henrietta Hudson’s monthly drag and burlesque revue featuring an all-trans, dyke, and/or sapphic cast. We’re celebrating all things queer here, and all are welcome!&nbsp;
Attendees can expect to see high-energy dance numbers, show-stopping ballads, comedy, and everything in between — complete with games (with prizes) and (of course!) delicious drinks (with non-alcoholic options available)!
THE D WORD is hosted by Pacha and features the gorgeous and talented Julius Nicoy, Mariquita, Reina NoBuena, and Se7en.
Shows start at 9:30pm, but feel free to come earlier — the bar opens at 6pm and our official “door time” is 9pm. So come early, settle in, and stay late! And best of all — there’s no cover! Joan Lunden, award-winning journalist, bestselling author and longtime host of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” will kick off “Inspired Conversations With…” Marble Collegiate Church’s new series featuring notable thought leaders on Thursday, April 30, 6 p.m. in the historic Sanctuary at 1 W. 29th Street in New York City.
Lunden will share stories from her newest book, Joan: Life Beyond the Script, during a memorable evening to be moderated by Faye Wattleton, longtime Marble member, former president of Planned Parenthood, author, speaker and a leading voice in protecting women’s rights. 
In Lunden’s memoir, she discusses breaking barriers in broadcast journalism, redefining motherhood and courageously sharing her breast cancer journey to advocate for women’s health and caregiving. Her story is one of resilience, reinvention and living boldly at every stage of life. Following this conversation, Lunden will sign her book, which is included in the $25 in-person admission.

On the tour, you'll join the guides on an adventure to understand the behaviors, biology, ecology, and history of our closest bird neighbors. 
You'll learn all about the dramatic relationship between pigeons and humans, including how pigeons have been maligned and redeemed throughout history. You'll also learn about the roles that leaders in NYC - and especially Bryant Park - played in this history.
We’ll visit an established pigeon flock in and around Bryant Park. You’ll leave with an understanding of pigeon behavior and a greater appreciation for these misunderstood birds.

MADC is elated to be premiering current company artist Ellicia Clayton’s new work, Come Sunday; the reimagining of the deconstructed repertory work, Thoughts; an audience favorite, Sweet Seventies’ Suite; and the premiere of Legacy. Ellicia Clayton’s Come Sunday investigates the following questions in her 5 section work: Have you ever questioned Salvation? Is it ever too late to be saved? Thoughts examines how we see ourselves, what ways that we show up for ourselves, and practices that cultivate self-love. Sweet Seventies' Suite explores grief, loss, and joy towards a loved one who transitioned to the spiritual realm. Legacy is rooted in joy as a form of resistance. It fosters pride and a positive sense of self by highlighting the valuable aspects of Black people from the First Great Migration, the first Harlem Renaissance, and the second Harlem Renaissance.
Please note that Speyer Hall @ University Settlement is ADA accessible with a wheelchair ramp for entry into the building, an elevator, and wheelchair access for seating.

Beneath the second-story glow of Berimbau on May 2, the soulful pulse of Daddy Rabbit takes flight, woven through the piano of Misha Piatigorsky, the breath of Rahj Mason and Emily Braden, the brass of Tatum Greenblatt, while Peter Slavov and Rudy Royston ground the night in a restless, elegant rhythm.
