Connecticut Stage Company presents Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning rock musical "Next to Normal" on May 2 at 7pm and May 3 at 2pm. With an electrifying pop/rock score and an honest, gut-wrenching script, "Next to Normal" explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness.
Dad's an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling bipolar disorder for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family's story with love, sympathy and heart."Next to Normal"&nbsp;is led by 2 Tony Nominated Broadway stars Elizabeth Stanley and A.J. The KEYS&nbsp;Trio is a dynamic ensemble that includes piano, cello and violin played respectively by Jenny Ong, Madeleine Corliss and Corinne Metter. All the players in the group are on the faculty of the KEYS music program in Bridgeport and all have varied and rich performance careers.<a href="https://us06web.zoom.us/j/83898278015?pwd=dzb5ppkJndrp9usqrp9hynmUVkQxfo.1" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"></a>
The upcoming performance is a fundraiser for KEYS and will be the 5th concert for this group at the church.The program will include music by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Delibes and some surprises, as well.The funds from the concert will be used to continue KEYS' vision to transform the lives of underserved children through music education. KEYS programs include one-to-one instrument and group lessons in Bridgeport taught by a faculty of over 30 music educators in 24 Bridgeport schools. Students learn life skills, such as preparation, patience, collaboration, and respect through the discipline of learning music and participation in ensembles. Our flat, 5K course runs through Mill River Park and Downtown Stamford and is open to the public. Darien Historical Society

The Museum of Darien invites you to journey back to the Revolutionary War era at its Annual Spring Fundraiser, War Comes to Middlesex: Rebels and Redcoats, on Saturday, May 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This lively and immersive event promises an unforgettable evening filled with history, community, and celebration.
Guests will be transported to the 18th century as the Museum transforms into a bustling hub of Revolutionary War activity. The evening will feature live music, delectable tavern bites courtesy of Carolyn Eddie’s Absolutely Fabulous Events, and libations provided by Captain Zig and Town Cellar. The festive Colonial Tavern atmosphere will set the stage for a night of fun and historical intrigue.
From colonial-inspired games to a Silent Auction and themed entertainment, attendees can indulge in a wide range of activities that bring the tensions and excitement of the Revolutionary era to life. Whether you pledge loyalty to the Patriots or the Crown, this fundraiser offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and spirit of 18th-century life.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to experience history in a fun, immersive way while supporting the Museum’s mission,” says Amy Allen, Executive Director of the Museum of Darien. “We’re excited to welcome the community for a night that blends education, entertainment, and philanthropy within our new Revolutionary exhibit, War Comes to Middlesex.”
All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the Museum of Darien’s educational programs, exhibitions, and preservation efforts, ensuring that the stories of Darien’s past continue to inspire future generations.
