NEW TO THE COMMUNITY?

JOIN THE UCONN LEAGUE

The University of Connecticut League is a social and charitable group founded in 1966 (which grew out of the University's Newcomers Club started in 1946.) Originally an organization for UCONN faculty wives, its membership now includes both retired and active UCONN faculty and staff as well as members of the general community with no past or present affiliation with UCONN. Membership is open to anyone from any town. The League is an excellent way to meet people with a variety of interests and is ideal for newcomers to the community.

The long-standing interest groups of the League are: Book Group, Play Readers, Fitness, Day-tripping, Walking, Golf, Mahjong, Kayaking, Stitch in Time (knitting and crocheting,) Reel to Real (film discussions,) Marathon Bridge Fundraiser, Four Seasons Dining and Wine-Tasting. The nominal dues support two UCONN scholarships and several local charities.

Anyone interested in joining the League or in starting a new interest group should contact Terry Brown, President (860-537-1570) or Claire Gates, Membership Chair (860-429-1898.) A morning get together for new or prospective members will be held on Wed. September 30 at 10 AM. Please call to get the meeting address in Willington.
