Reader. Researcher. Coffee lover. Health expert. Communicator. I love to talk or write about health related topics and more specifically about dental health as I have been working with dentist. Most of the information I find online are not thorough or wrong. I guess this has been my passion for a while now. I have good friends and family who support me in my cause and I guess overall life is going smooth. What else could we anyone expect, right? Even though I am now wearing a mask the majority of the time I am still self-conscious of my teeth. The fact that I am now aware of it more is probably due to the constant mask-wearing.
I am not the best looking person but I think it is important to look your best. I am trying very hard to keep up with my dental hygiene especially since I am staying home a lot more now. I find that I am drinking and eating more than normal due to the fridge being so close and I want to work on my teeth. There are several reasons why teeth can turn yellow and I want to spread awareness of why that is and what may be done to overcome it.
Now the hardest fact to swallow is that sheer time can be a factor of why your teeth are turning more yellow. It is a simple truth that the older you get the more your teeth turn yellow. It is just a fact that your teeth will naturally not be as white the older you get. I don't think this is a good excuse to stop working on them though. It is still important to have a healthy dental routine in order to improve your teeth and keep them as white as you can. Don't simply say I am getting older and let that be the end of it.
Now the main reason your teeth turn yellow is simply due to the lack of enamel on them. When your teeth start to erode and enamel is being taken away the under layers start to show. It is actually a yellow layer under your teeth that is called Dentin. This layer is more yellow-tinted and when enamel erodes the dentin shows. So it is really important to keep up on all the minerals and vitamins that you can in order to grow enamel.
One of the reasons that the eroding happens and the dentin starts to show is the diet you are eating. The food and drinks that we injust are a huge cause of the looks of our teeth. The more Black Coffee or dark foods with high acidity you eat the more they actually stain your teeth. This turns them more brown and yellow and also interacts on the dentin to make it even worse. This process is sped up by drinking more acidic drinks and sodas. These drinks end up having more sugar and acid in them and it speeds up the whole process of decay. It is a big downward spiral. So the goal is to drink and eat less of those dark highly acidic foods.
Another major cause of yellow teeth issmoking. If you are a smoker it is a good bet that this habit is actually causing your teeth to look more yellow. The tar in nicotine is very mad not only for the looks of your teeth but also for the health of your mouth. This can make you look bad and cause a multitude of health issues. Indeed we know you can read the cigarette box, but if you want to look better too, it may be a habit you need to kick.
So kick some bad habits and start looking better. That is the main idea!
