Blood loss is the leading cause of preventable deaths in mass casualty events like shootings, terrorist attacks and earthquakes. Significant external bleeding can also result from everyday events such as a motorcycle crash or industrial accident. Rapid control of bleeding at the scene of an event can be lifesaving. In this class, learn how you can provide basic bleeding control as immediate frontline aid until first responders arrive.

In this training, participants (18 years old and up) will learn how to identify if someone is considering suicide, how to start the conversation and what to say, and how to connect them with help.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.&nbsp;

This is an interactive class with videos and activities designed to provide the knowledge and courage to reach out to someone who is struggling.&nbsp;
After the class you will receive the following:

&nbsp;Mental Health First Aid: Youth teaches adults 18 years and older how to identify, understand,&nbsp;and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among youth. 

&nbsp;With this class adults will feel more confident in providing support to youth.&nbsp;

Since 1971, Hopelink has provided programs for people experiencing poverty, immigrants and refugees, and people with disabilities in north and east King County, while its Transportation programs services the entire county and into Snohomish County. The agency's programs work in tandem to fill gaps, supporting each family or individual's unique needs as they gain stability and build skills to exit poverty.

Teen Resilience and Thriving workshop helps teens identify stress and learn coping skills, positive self-talk, and time management. 

This workshop gives teens a safe place to share their challenges and grow their confidence, providing them with essential skills to enhance their learning experiences. 


During the workshop teens will:
<ul><li>Understand stress in general and recognize when they are over-stressed.</li><li>Recognize that they are not alone, and that others also experience similar challenges.</li><li>Learn time management and organizational skills to avoid procrastination and reduce stress.</li><li>Learn and practice how to replace a negative self-talk with positive or neutral self-talk.</li><li>Practice de-stressing exercises.</li></ul>
PLEASE NOTE: The workshop is for YOUTH in middle school and high school. This is NOT a workshop for parents/caregivers. 

If you are a parent who is registering your teen(s) for this workshop, please register each teen individually.

A few days prior to the class, participants will receive an extensive electronic workbook with exercises they will use during the workshop and will be encouraged to continue using it after the workshop.&nbsp;

Accidents can happen in an instant – but knowing what to do can make all the difference. This engaging three-hour, non-certification pediatric first aid class is designed for parents, grandparents, babysitters, and anyone who cares for kids. 
Participants will learn practical skills to confidently respond to common childhood injuries and emergencies. 
During this hands-on class, you will learn how to:
•Recognize injuries using the five “B's” – Breathing, Bleeding, Broken Bones, Burns, and Bites
•Control bleeding and apply a wrap bandage
•Respond to mouth and tooth Injuries
•Safely manage an eye injury
•Place a child in the recovery position
•Know when it is safe to move an injured child
•Safely remove gloves and maintain hygiene
•Properly use an epinephrine pen
•Recognize and safely respond to seizures

Grief can sometimes be very confusing, chaotic, isolating and overwhelming. Feeling separate from the healthy and happy world around you is natural. It is also natural to feel you're not “getting better.” There is comfort in being in the company of others going through the same emotions and issues.

Overlake's Path of Grief support group is a six-week series with two-hour sessions. The first hour is dedicated to sharing and talking with others about your experiences of grief—whatever aspects of grief have affected you that week. The second hour involves learning about the path of grief—including what to expect, why it happens, how to cope and how long it takes. Each week, the facilitators introduce a new aspect of grief and encourage group discussion around that topic.Cost:&nbsp;Free.
