Richard Stephen Bell is an actor, screenwriter and teacher. His screenplays have garnered recognition from such prestigious organizations as the Nicholl Fellowships, Austin Film Festival and Coppola’s Zoetrope.  “Winkle”, his updated interpretation of “Rip Van Winkle” was named a Semi-finalist (top 12 dramas out of 4,500 scripts) at Austin.  Nicholl awarded “Bean Sprout,” his modernized, gender-reversed “Jane and the Beanstalk” tale, set in a Manhattan Starbucks, a Quarter-finalist spot (top 350 out of 6,700 scripts). His most recent writing endeavor is the adaptation of Herman Melville's classic short story, "Bartleby," which has been awarded a "Director's Citation" from the Black Maria Film Festival. As an actor, Richard can be seen on stage, in commercials, on the internet and in films.
