Geneva resident Ryan Hobbs received his Bachelor’s of Music degree from DePaul University (2006), and his Masters of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee (2009). He is the interim professor of trumpet at St. Xavier University in Chicago, and along with Northside Brass, regularly performs with the Northbrook Symphony, Chicago "Bach-Week" Festival Orchestra, UW-Milwaukee Faculty Brass Quintet, Millar Brass Ensemble, International Chamber Artists Orchestra, New Philharmonic Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra (Appleton, WI), Present Music Milwaukee, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Racine Symphony Orchestra, and the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra. Other performances include the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and the Doc Severinson Big Band. In 2013 Ryan performed with Ethan Bortnick (child piano prodigy) for an internationally televised PBS fundraiser called “Ethan Bortnick- The Power of Music”, benefitting Parkinsons Research. Featured on the same benefit with Ethan were: Damien McGinty from the hit T.V. show "Glee", and grammy-nominated vocalist Jane Monheit. He also performed in broadway show pit orchestras around Chicago including runs of Kiss me Kate, Guys and Dolls, and Cabaret. He has performed at the Merle Reskin Theatre, Circle Theatre, and the Bailiwick Theatre. Finally, Ryan is passionate about music education and maintains an active private teaching studio throughout the Chicagoland area.
