Worcester County Food Bank (WCFB) is the only food bank serving the region. Our mission statement is: To engage, educate, and lead Worcester County in creating a hunger-free community.
As the largest anti-hunger organization in Worcester County, WCFB collects and distributes donated food and grocery product in partnership with food donors, financial supporters, and volunteers. WCFB provides this product to a network of partner agencies that have programs for feeding people including food pantries, community meal sites, and shelters.
WCFB opened in November 1982 in Worcester, MA with two staff people. In that first year, we distributed 600,000 pounds of donated food to 120 agencies that helped feed 20,000 people. In 1997, we purchased a 37,000 square-foot warehouse on Route 9 in Shrewsbury, which greatly increased our capacity to store and distribute donated food, recruit volunteers, and expand programming. This past year, WCFB distributed nearly 5.8 million pounds of donated food to 131 Partner Agencies that helped feed over 101,700 people.
