Sarah Embro joined The ALS Association Georgia Chapter as the Executive Director in 2013. In that time she has overseen the expansion of services state-wide provided to Georgians with ALS and the growth of the annual Walk to Defeat ALS to become one of the largest ALS sponsored Walks in the United States.

Sarah has been integral in enhancing the Georgia Chapter’s programming with the addition of new program supports for The Kostiuk ALS Care Grant, The Sally Panfel In-Home & Respite Care Program and The Paul B. Williams ALS Transportation Program; expansion of the ALS Assistive Technology program, partnering with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving to increase support for ALS caregivers, and raising the profile of The Association at the state level with Georgia Representatives, which included testifying in 2019 before the Georgia State House and Senate for their support of the ALS Disability Insurance Access Act.

Prior to joining The ALS Association, Sarah was the Chief Development Officer for Families First in Atlanta, Georgia and the Regional Development Manager for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Sarah has been an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Atlanta Chapter since 2012, having served as Treasurer and chair of the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon – a recognition of significant philanthropists in metro Atlanta.
