Foundation of the Sacred Stream

Our drum circles are held four times a year on the solstices and 
equinoxes. The focus of our circles is on healing for individuals, the 
community, and the earth. Ours is the longest running drum circle in the
 San Francisco Bay Area, having started in 1998.
The format for the circle includes calling power, drum circle 
meditation (or journey), healing circle and closing circle. Please note 
that this is not a jam or free form drumming (except for the calling of 
power). We follow an ancient practice of altering consciousness using a 
repetitive beat. There are no counter beats, harmonies, or melodies.
You do not have to be experienced in drumming or shamanism to attend.
 If you have a shamanic journey practice, you will be able to journey 
during the drumming circle, though experience with the shamanic journey 
is not required.&nbsp;If you have a drum or rattle, please bring it. Some drums and rattles&nbsp;will be available to borrow. Sunday, September 20, 2026

Join Venerable Ani Choyang in conversation with Laura Chandler online
 or in-person for this inspiring event exploring an extraordinary 
journey—from escaping Chinese-occupied Tibet as a young woman with 
little formal education to becoming one of the first Tibetan Buddhist 
nuns to earn the prestigious Geshema degree after His Holiness the Dalai
 Lama opened the path for women to receive the highest level of training
 in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy.
Through stories of resilience, scholarship, and compassion, this 
conversation offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of the 
pioneering women helping shape the future of Tibetan Buddhism while 
building bridges between cultures, traditions, and ways of understanding
 the mind.
In this talk, Ani-la will also introduce the vision behind the Hidden
 Happiness Tour, which seeks to support the continued development of the
 Jangchub Choeling Library and Learning Center, celebrate the 
often-overlooked contributions of Tibetan Buddhist nuns, foster 
meaningful cross-cultural dialogue, and explore the rich intersection of
 Buddhist philosophy and contemporary scientific inquiry.
Whether you are a longtime Buddhist practitioner, curious about 
Tibetan culture, or interested in the dialogue between spirituality and 
science, this promises to be an unforgettable event filed with insight, 
inspiration, and hope. Q&amp;A with Ani-la and a meet and greet will

A Midsummer Night's Dream is Shakespeare's comical melding of love stories within both the magical forest world of the Fairies and the Athenian court, with the King and Queen of the Fairies, the love quadrangle of Hermia, Demetrius, Lysander and Helena, and the Duke of Athens and his fiance the Queen of the Amazons, all "working things out", with a little intervention by the mischevious Puck and the hapless Mechanicals.&nbsp; A perfect play to end the summer on - join us!
