What is MASLD — and could you be at risk?
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly known as fatty liver disease or NAFLD, often has few or no symptoms, so many people don't even realize they have it.
Join Spark Your Health and Meena B. Bansal, MD, Professor of Medicine, System Chief of the Division of Liver Diseases, and Director of the MASLD/MASH Center of Excellence at Mount Sinai Health System, for an informative conversation about MASLD, liver fibrosis, and the steps you can take to protect your liver health.
You’ll learn:

What MASLD is and who is most at risk

What liver enzyme tests can — and cannot — tell you

Why fibrosis, or liver scarring, matters

How doctors assess and monitor liver fibrosis

How lifestyle changes and newer treatment options may help at different stages

You’ll leave better prepared to understand your individual risk, speak with your healthcare provider, and take an active role in your liver health.
The program will open with remarks from Eric J. Nestler, MD, PhD, Dean and Professor of Neuroscience and Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Mount Sinai Health System, and Seth Pinsky, CEO of 92NY.
Free FibroScan® Screening
Your event ticket includes the option to receive a free FibroScan® screening. The screening is painless, noninvasive, and takes only a few minutes. A small probe is placed against the skin on the right side of your torso to assess your liver.
Screenings will be offered from 5:30-8:30 pm.
After purchasing your event ticket, look for a separate screening-registration link in your email order confirmation. Advance registration is recommended as screening appointments are limited to three patrons every 10 minutes.
The scan provides two measurements:

Liver stiffness, which helps estimate the amount of liver scarring, or fibrosis

CAP (controlled attenuation parameter) score, which helps estimate the amount of fat in the liver

How to Prepare for Your Scan
For the most accurate results:

Do not eat for at least three hours before your scan. A small amount of water is fine.

Wear a top that allows easy access to the right side of your torso. Please wait until after your scan to enjoy the event refreshments.

Privacy screens will be provided.
Understanding Your Results
A team from Mount Sinai will be available to explain your results. If you would like additional care, the team can also help you schedule a follow-up appointment with a liver specialist. If you prefer not to be screened during the event, the team can help you arrange a screening for another time.

The week before the 2026 midterm elections, join us for a concert that asks a simple but urgent question:
What does resistance sound like?
Written in response to the rise of fascism in Europe and the events that led to Kristallnacht, Sir. Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time was a powerful act of protest. Nearly 90 years later, its message still hits home.
Filled with gripping spirituals such as Steal Away, Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen, and Deep River, A Child of Our Time transforms grief into action and despair into hope. Tippet’s compositions begin in darkness but ends with renewal, reminding us that even in difficult times, a better future is worth fighting for.
Presented in partnership with the Mannes School of Music

Soloists Laquita Mitchell, Soprano Margaret Lattimore, Mezzo-Soprano William Burden, Tenor Stephen Powell, Baritone

As New Yorkers prepare to choose their governor this November, what are the forces shaping the race — and the future of the state?
As part of our ongoing State of New York series, 92NY invites candidates for city and state elections to present their vision for New York’s next chapter in a conversation with 92NY CEO Seth Pinsky.
First elected Nassau County Executive in 2021, Bruce Blakeman has made public safety, taxes, affordability, and opposition to a number of Albany policies central to his tenure. Before becoming County Executive, he served as a Hempstead Town Councilman, a Nassau County legislator and presiding officer, and a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Now, as he campaigns for governor against incumbent Kathy Hochul, Blakeman has put forward an agenda focused on lowering taxes and the cost of living, changing state energy policy, and pursuing a more aggressive approach to crime and public safety.
In a wide-ranging conversation, Blakeman and Pinsky will discuss what Blakeman sees as the successes and challenges of his tenure in Nassau County, what he believes New York’s government is getting right — and wrong — and his vision for the future of our state.
Part of 92NY’s commitment to convening substantive conversations about the people and ideas shaping public life, this program does not constitute an endorsement of any candidate or campaign.
