Summer Camp with a Conscious

Dance Away the Summer Days!

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 1 – As families begin scheduling summertime activities and camps for their kids, there is a new option for Los Angeles parents that puts the consciousness back into camp.

The award winning Gabriella Foundation has provided outstanding dance programming for lower-resource kids for the past 15 years. This July, the Foundation is rolling out a new program, SummerDance, with a model influenced by some of the top education and creative based theorists. Deborah Meier, a leader in democracy and diversity in schools says, "Good schools, like good societies and good families, celebrate and cherish diversity."

With this in mind, The Gabriella foundation is opening its SummerDance program to families in the mid- to higher-resource bracket. Students from these families will receive the same high quality dance education from professional dance teachers and because of their financial contributions, will be helping others to have a transformative summer camp experience.

Think of the TOMS Shoes model: Buy one pair, give one pair. The goal for The Gabriella Foundation is to provide more youth with a full-day summer dance camp experience, while creating an optimal environment for learning and creativity for all.

Session One: July 5 to July 15 for youth ages 6-8 years old

Session Two: July 18 to July 29 for youth ages 9-11 years old

Drop off: Between 8:00-8:30am daily with visual arts activities

8:30 am to 3:30 pm daily, students will take mixed level classes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Art and Life Skills in the historic Sheraton Townhouse building studios near Downtown Los Angeles (2955 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90010).
