Bold color, fluid movement, and creative energy take center stage in “Flow,” the newest exhibition at Falls Church Arts.
Featuring 48 works by 41 artists, “Flow” celebrates the versatility and expressive power of water-based media. The exhibition opens with a Meet the Artists Reception from 7–9 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, giving visitors a chance to meet the artists, explore the work, and hear juror Vian Borchert announce the Juror’s Choice Award. The reception is free and is open to the public.
The show brings together a range of media from acrylic, watercolor, gouache, fabric dye, and sumi ink to egg tempera to demonstrate the versatility of water-based media.
Borchert, a renowned contemporary artist, described the works selected for the show. “The exhibition brings together works by artists with varying approaches, each expressing flow through different elements and media. This can be seen in the captivating qualities of water-based media

“Kinship,” an all-media exhibit honoring the bonds that exist between or among communities, families, cultures, and affinity groups, will be on display through January 4, 2026 at Falls Church Arts. See the Juror's Choice Award, "Boy King" by Robin Lazarus-Berlin and the People's Choice Award Winner, "The Caregiver's Weaving," by Jose Quinonez.Juror, Glen Kessler, says, “The current show at Falls Church Arts, entitled ‘Kinship,’ explores the many ways artists interpret the idea of connection—between individuals, between cultures, and even within themselves. This thought-provoking exhibition of more than 50 works in a range of media feels especially meaningful at a time when both our similarities and differences are so often in focus. As juror, I am deeply proud of the artists represented here. Arlington County Council of PTAs (CCPTA) today announced the official launch of Fill the Break: The 2026 Arlington CCPTA Food Security Challenge. Running from September 16 through December 12, 2026, this countywide initiative aims to bridge the nutrition gap for Arlington Public Schools (APS) students during weekends, holidays, snow days, and extended school breaks when school-provided meals are unavailable.
To seed the effort, CCPTA membership has directly committed $2,000 from its central fund. Through the “Fill the Break” campaign, CCPTA is inviting local families, neighborhood businesses, civic organizations, and community members to match – and exceed – this initial investment.
The fundraiser incorporates a friendly competition between APS school PTAs – the one that raises the most money will win an award, as will the school PTA that earns the most individual donations!
All funds raised through the campaign directly support the newly established CCPTA Fill the Break Food Security Grant Fund. Member PTA and PTSAs across Arlington will be eligible to apply for micro-grants to finance localized food initiatives, such as emergency “Snow Day Packs,” weekend pantry drives, and grocery gift card distributions. Make sure to select your school’s PTA to receive credit for your donation, whether you donate online or by check!
Donations may be made online at https://www.givebacks.com/causes/arlington-ccpta/campaigns/arlingtonccpta
Checks may be mailed to: Arlington CCPTA, Attn: Food Security, 2110 Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA 22204
*Please write the name of the APS school PTA you want to get credit on the memo line
