Arboretum AppleHouse

Just 1.5 miles west of the main Arboretum entrance on Highway 5, the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum AppleHouse is an iconic seasonal destination, featuring&nbsp;<a href="https://arb.umn.edu/AppleHouse/apples" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Minnesota-grown apples</a>, including varieties grown at the Arboretum’s nearby Horticultural Research Center.&nbsp;Many of the&nbsp;<a href="https://mnhardy.umn.edu/apples/varieties" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">University of Minnesota’s introduced apple varieties</a>&nbsp;are for sale, along with gourmet packaged foods, frozen pies, pastries, fudge, gifts and — in the fall — pumpkins, squash and gourds, also grown at the Arboretum. While supplies last, the AppleHouse also offers delicious Goldy’s Smokehouse meats, ice cream and Bee Lab honey from the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Science (CFANS). Visit us 9 am to 6 pm daily.

By juxtaposing the fluid transparency of watercolor, the rich, worked texture of oil, and the spectral light of photography, this show challenges the viewer to move beyond the literal. “Thin Veils and Fluid Borders”&nbsp;invites us to look past the geography of the land and instead feel its pulse. Together, these works create a collective meditation on how the environment shapes our internal mood, presenting the landscape as a living, breathing entity that shifts with the light and the mind's eye. As you move through the space, you'll see a striking conversation unfold between three distinct media: the fluid, weightless transparency of Nanci Yermakoff’s watercolors; the thick, deeply layered textures of Jamie Lauler’s oil paintings; and the spectral light of Brian Billadeau’s photography. Susan will supply locally sourced winter greens as well as fresh foliage, natural, dried materials and accents to make a classic seasonal wreath with touches of your own unique style. Bring your friends and family for a fun-filled afternoon of creativity and holiday spirit.&nbsp;Please bring your own clippers or pruners.&nbsp; All other supplies provided for you in class and pre register on the&nbsp;website.
