ABOUT THE BOOK: We are in the early days of a potentially cataclysmic shift away from government financial support for non-profits. This financial collapse crosses the spectrum of programmatic areas: science, medicine, education, transportation, agriculture, the environment, arts and culture and more. Philanthropy as traditionally practiced at the institutional, family foundation, or individual level cannot close the funding gap. We are also on the cusp of the largest transfer of wealth in US history. Those in a position to give need new ways to operate in a dramatically different ecosystem.
New Ways of Working Together: A Role for Philanthropy recounts how the Rauch Foundation, a privately administered family philanthropy established in the 1960s, drastically redefined its role with the goal of achieving far greater regional impact on Long Island. Their evolution meant forming organic, tri-sector alliances, where stakeholders can come together to nimbly solve community problems without the weight of formal structures. While the story centers on the challenges Long Island faced, it offers insights applicable to any region in need and specific steps philanthropic leaders can adopt.
The book profiles numerous individuals whose expertise and commitment contributed to the Rauch Foundation's breakthrough successes. These profiles suggest the diversity and availability of the sort of “outsiders” foundations should be actively recruiting to enhance their capacity for affecting meaningful change.
NANCY R. DOUZINAS started her philanthropic journey as a practicing psychologist and family therapy. Later, she became the president of the Rauch Foundation, which was founded by her father and her uncle as an expression of what was important to them. Douzinas had the opportunity to rethink and redirect the mission of the Rauch Foundation, and she strives to share what the foundation did and learned, both the missteps and the major successes, with others who face the ever-changing challenges and bear the great responsibility of running a family foundation.

ABOUT THE BOOK: A deep dive into Dawson's Creek, one of the most popular teen dramas of all-time, full of never-before-heard stories and behind-the-scenes insight into fan-favorite characters, from one of the show's stars, Kerr Smith.
Welcome back to Dawson's Creek, where the banter is fast-paced, a soulful, pop music soundtrack underscores every emotional moment, and friendships have the potential to turn on a dime and transform into something more. Written by one of its stars, the nostalgic trip down memory lane of the WB's paradigm-shifting show will transport fans back to Capeside, Massachusetts, revealing all the fun, romance, friendships, and drama that occurered – on screen and off – in that charming coastal place we know as Dawson's Creek.
From episode deep dived to wild stories of crazy days on set and crazier nights after filming wrapped, Dawson's star Kerr Smith takes us behind the scenes of classic show that kickstarted the teen TV revolution of the late 90s and early 2000s. Featuring interviews with his fellow cast members, crew, network and studio executives, creator Kevin Williamson and the writing staff, Smith has produced the ultimate yearbook for Capeside High, revealing the origin stories of Dawson, Percy, Joey, Jen, and others; providing insights on how classic Dawson's storylines came to be – and how a few almost didn't – while telling his own personal story, from growing up in a small town of his own to what it was like to be part of that iconic gay kiss on American primetime?
I Don't Want to Wait is the ultimate chronicle of a show that fans can't help but return to, time and time again. As Joey Potter would tell you, "Things change. People change." But Dawson's Creek is forever.
Kerr Smith is best known for his role as Jack McPhee on The WB's Dawson's Creek. He is also known for his portrayal of Kyle Brody on Charmed and Ryan Thomas on Life Unexpected. Over the years he has had roles on NCIS, The Fosters, Criminal Minds, and Riverdale among many others. His film credits include Final Destination and My Bloody Valentine.
