Gore Place

From May 8&nbsp;through July 10 visitors to Gore Place will get to view a special exhibition of Gore Place wallpapers as part of the Mansion tour.&nbsp;
Guests interested in seeing the exhibition should make a tour reservation using the link below. Walk-ins are also welcome. Tours start on the hour at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.&nbsp;

Pattern & Place: Wallpapers of the Gore Mansion, 1806-Present

Farmer Scott’s Heirloom Tomato Plant Sale at Gore Place returns on Friday, May 15 from 9 am to 3 pm; Saturday, May 16 from 9am to 5pm; and Sunday, May 17 from 9 am to 12 noon. Fill your garden with vegetable transplants, grown on the Farm at Gore Place. Choose from varieties of hard-to-find heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, herbs, and customer-favorites marigolds!
It’s not just the great plants that make this sale special; Farmer Scott has been growing vegetables for almost 50 years, and he has deep knowledge of these varieties and is onsite and ready to share! According to Scott, “We get lots of return customers. They count on us to provide the rare varieties that commercial nurseries don’t carry.”

The sale will take place on the farm and there will be plenty of free parking (enter at 249 Waltham Street.) For more information, visit the website www.goreplace.org.

Farmer Scott’s Heirloom Tomato Plant Sale at Gore Place 

Do you love design details and perhaps a little mystery? Come take a tour of the mansion and learn about the history of our wallcoverings plus the challenges involved in antique wallpaper reproduction.&nbsp;We’ll examine Gore Place’s original “painted papers” as well as some of the vibrant wallpapers that have been removed and preserved in our collections room.&nbsp;We’ll discuss the poisons that made antique wallpaper so vivid, view photographs of the mansion at the turn of the 20th century and explore the curious origins of our Devil’s Wallpaper.&nbsp;
$25, $20 members, $15 Card to Culture

Acclaimed guitarist John Muratore will perform a concert of music arranged for classical guitar in the beautiful 1793 Carriage House at Gore Place. The Boston Globe has called John's playing "...aural iridescence..." and the Boston Musical Intelligencer has called him "one of greater Boston’s most gifted guitar virtuosos."
Tickets are $25, $20 members, $15 Card to Culture. Parking is free.

Led by guitarist&nbsp;Ruth Rappaport&nbsp;and her fiddler son,&nbsp;Ben Wetherbee,&nbsp;this intergenerational band's repertoire includes rousing, powerful old-time fiddle tunes and traditional, modern, and original songs that feature tight harmony singing. They are very spirited and people of all ages love their enthusiastic and innovative music. Ruth played for many years in the eclectic string band The Poodles, and Ben has made a mark for himself as a popular old-time, roots rock, and alt music fiddler. The string band is rounded out by Joel Wennerstrom on clawhammer banjo and Gian Criscitiello on upright bass.Enjoy traditional music in an historic space!

Explore fun hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math challenges throughout Camp Cedar Hill from local program partners. Participants will use a map to choose their adventure and which topics to explore. Meet and chat with STEM professionals while digging deeper into topics you love or discovering new ones you may not have known about!
STEM Fest is the premier STEM event of the year at Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. This event is open to ALL Girl Scout levels with activities and experiments created for different ages.&nbsp;
The event fee includes a collectible fun patch and STEM-themed giveaways. Check back regularly for an updated list of partners and activities!
Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts require volunteer supervision, while Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors have a drop-off option for this event.
