Discover the magic of one of photography’s earliest processes in this engaging, hands-on workshop exploring cyanotypes, an art form that uses sunlight to create striking blue prints. Working primarily outdoors, participants will experiment with a variety of techniques using natural materials, drawing, and collage to produce unique compositions on fabric.

Led by renowned artist <a target="_blank" href="https://www.andreacote.com/" rel="nofollow noopener">Andrea Cote</a>, this collaborative session invites creativity at every level, resulting in beautiful, one-of-a-kind works of art to take home.

Space is limited for this wonderful experience. Advanced ticket purchase is required.

Her work has been exhibited widely, including at the Parrish Art Museum, Guild Hall, and MOCA Long Island, and she is a recipient of multiple NYSCA grants.

Step back into the glitz and glamour of the Roaring Twenties as East End Jazz and the Southampton History Museum proudly present Bohemian Swing and the Great Gatsby On Thursday, June 11th, this immersive musical experience invites guests to relive the era that famously inspired F. Scott Fitzgerald’s American masterpiece.

The event will be held on the historic grounds of the Southampton History Museum, centered around the iconic 1843 Rogers Mansion. While the museum frequently explores local connections to the Jazz Age, this evening offers a rare opportunity to see history come alive through the high-energy, infectious rhythms of swing.

The evening features a premier quartet of jazz talent dedicated to the sounds of the era: 
Vanessa Trouble (Vocals): A dynamic vocalist and band leader, Trouble captivates audiences with her energetic and sensual interpretations of the American Jazz and swing songbook. 
Vinny Raniolo (Guitar): A highly acclaimed jazz guitarist and educator, Raniolo is renowned for his expertise in rhythm and accompaniment within the gypsy swing and acoustic jazz genres.
Iris Ornig (Double Bass): A professional bassist, composer, and director of the nonprofit East End Jazz, Ornig is dedicated to fostering young talent and bringing the community together through world-class musical performances.
Special Guest (Clarinet): To Be Announced.

The ensemble will perform a curated selection of songs from the 1920s, blending the sophisticated melodies of the American Songbook with the virtuosic, string-driven style popularized by Django Reinhardt.

“Dearest Friend” is a staged reading drawn from the extraordinary correspondence between Abigail Adams&nbsp;and John Adams. Through their own words, audiences are transported into the private world of a couple separated by war and united by intellect, passion, and unwavering conviction.

Set against the backdrop of revolution and the birth of a new nation, including the turmoil surrounding the Battles of Lexington and Concord&nbsp;and the Battle of Bunker Hill, their letters reveal not only political urgency, but deep affection, longing, and debate.

Rich with excerpts from their personal writings, “Dearest Friend” unfolds as a living conversation, intimate, urgent, and deeply human, illuminating a partnership shaped by love, principle, and the struggle to define liberty in a new world.

This program is presented by <a target="_blank" href="https://www.janetdemarest.com/" rel="nofollow noopener">Author-Actor Janet Emily Demarest</a>. Janet is a seasoned theatrical performer and historic storyteller whose work includes programs for Colonial Williamsburg, Old Bethpage Village Restoration, the Port Jefferson Dickens Festival, and numerous historic societies. She is the author of two books and more than a dozen plays for children, and brings over two years of research into the Adams correspondence to her original one-woman performance “Dearest Abigail,” adapted here as a staged reading.

Welch</a> in exploring the remarkable and multifaceted Revolutionary War career of Setauket native Benjamin Tallmadge. A gifted leader of dragoons, intelligence and counter-intelligence officer, and master of combined land-and-sea operations, Tallmadge played a critical role in the Patriot war effort.

He fought at the Battles of Long Island, White Plains, and Germantown, defended Patriot civilians in Westchester from British and Loyalist raids, and—while commanding his own legion—launched daring attacks against British outposts on Long Island from bases in Connecticut. At the same time, Tallmadge managed General George Washington’s most consistently active espionage network in Long Island and New York and was instrumental in uncovering the Arnold–André plot to betray West Point.

Join artist Aurelio Torres for a<a target="_blank" href="https://www.britannica.com/art/plein-air-painting" rel="nofollow noopener"> Plein Air Painting</a> Workshop on Wednesday, July 29th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Halsey House &amp; Garden. This hands-on program invites participants to experience the beauty of outdoor painting while working directly from the historic grounds of this historic Southampton History Museum property.

Plein air painting, literally “in the open air," encourages artists of all levels to slow down, observe the landscape, and translate light, color, and atmosphere directly onto canvas. Under the guidance of Torres, participants will explore composition, brushwork, and technique while engaging with the unique historic setting of the Halsey House.

About the Artist:
<a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/aurelio__torres/" rel="nofollow noopener">Aurelio Torres</a> is an East Hampton based artist born in Montevideo, Uruguay, into a family of internationally recognized artists. Raised in New York City, he trained in Barcelona, Spain, and studied under his uncle, Augusto Torres, continuing a lineage that includes his grandfather, the influential modernist Joaquín Torres-García. His work spans painting and sculpture, often inspired by natural landscapes, portraiture, and maritime forms such as wooden ships and vessels. Working primarily in East Hampton, Torres is known for a sensibility rooted in simplicity, craftsmanship, and a close connection to the natural world.

Materials: All materials and easels are the responsibility of participants.
Many plein air artists use oil based paints or water color paints, but participants are encouraged to use any medium they enjoy!

Tiny Toes &amp; The Jazz Crew: Bridging the Gap Between Playtime and the American Art Form

A Musical Playground for the Whole Family (Ages 1 to 99)

What happens when The Wheels on the Bus hops on board with the legendary sounds of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis?

East End Jazz is proud to announce the launch of Tiny Toes &amp; The Jazz Crew; a groundbreaking, interactive concert series designed to bridge the gap between early childhood playtime and the professional performing arts. This multi-generational experience invites families to step into a world where nursery rhymes blend seamlessly with jazz standards, proving that great music knows no age limit.

"We wanted to create a space where the next generation doesn't just listen to music, but feels it," says Iris Ornig, Director of<a target="_blank" href="https://www.eastendjazz.org/" rel="nofollow noopener"> East End Jazz</a>. "By pairing familiar melodies with sophisticated jazz arrangements, we’re inviting families to participate in the rhythm, movement, and spontaneous joy that defines this art form."

This isn't your average performance. The series transforms playtime into a high-level artistic exchange, allowing children to experience jazz through the lens of play. Led by a "Jazz Crew" of professional musicians from Long Island and NYC, the ensemble serves as both performers and mentors, guiding the audience through a journey of syncopation, scat-singing and instrumental discovery.

Rain or Shine: In case of rain, the music stays swinging indoors in the gallery.

Wheeler-Brown’s book explores the history of Delftware ceramics, focusing on the often-overlooked roles of women as makers, patrons, and collectors, from 17th-century factory owners like&nbsp;Barbara Rotteveel&nbsp;to Gilded Age collectors like&nbsp;Mrs. J. Pierpont Morgan. A must for devotees of decorative arts and the history of material culture. 
Location: The award-winning Jay Estate Gardens designed by Nelson Byrd Woltz. Co-Chairs, Tracy Edwards, Liz Garrett, Emmy Lambert, Lindsay Bello Martin and Suzanne Clary.
Guests will enjoy botanical cocktails and a tour of the blue and white blooms of our gardens at 11:30am followed by lunch and lecture at 12 Noon. Booksigning at 1:30pm. Catering provided by Scarborough Fair Catering.

GENEVIEVE WHEELER BROWN
Founding Genevieve Wheeler Decorative Art Advisory in 2003, Genevieve comes to the advisory business with more than 12 years of experience in the auction world, strong generalist knowledge and a wide range of contacts in American, European and Asian decorative and fine arts.
Genevieve began her career with Christie’s in 1992 with the European Decorative Arts Department after working as an intern at The Phillips Collection, Washington D.C. in 1990. She was then asked to run Overseas Consignments at Christie’s Park Avenue, a department that handled inquiries for European based auctions including Indian and Southeast Asian art, Islamic Art, Miniatures, Textiles and Cameras. In 1995 Genevieve became the New York contact for sales of Fabergé and Russian Silver at Christie’s Park Avenue and most recently was as a specialist in Fine Musical Instruments at Christie’s Rockefeller Center from 1998 to 2003.
While at Christie’s, she was involved with important sales such as ‘The Pine Cone Egg’ by Carl Fabergé and ‘The Taft’ Stradivari which fetched the auction record for an instrument sold in the United States. She has also been an appraiser on the PBS production ‘The Antiques Roadshow’.
A supporter of several fine and decorative art related institutions, Genevieve has served on the Board of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, served as a member of the Young Fellows Steering Committee of the Frick Collection from 1995 to 2005 and co-Chaired the Winter Antiques Show Young Collector’s Night, New York in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
Genevieve currently advises several organizations including <a href="https://www.dumbartonhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dumbarton House</a>, a Federal period house museum in Georgetown, as a board member as well as for <a href="https://www.thewintershow.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Winter Show</a> as a vice-chair of Opening Night and as co-founder of The Winter Show Luncheon.About The Jay Heritage Center
