Join artist Aurelio Torres for a<a target="_blank" href="https://www.britannica.com/art/plein-air-painting" rel="nofollow noopener"> Plein Air Painting</a> Workshop on Wednesday, July 29th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Halsey House &amp; Garden. This hands-on program invites participants to experience the beauty of outdoor painting while working directly from the historic grounds of this historic Southampton History Museum property.

Plein air painting, literally “in the open air," encourages artists of all levels to slow down, observe the landscape, and translate light, color, and atmosphere directly onto canvas. Under the guidance of Torres, participants will explore composition, brushwork, and technique while engaging with the unique historic setting of the Halsey House.

About the Artist:
<a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/aurelio__torres/" rel="nofollow noopener">Aurelio Torres</a> is an East Hampton based artist born in Montevideo, Uruguay, into a family of internationally recognized artists. Raised in New York City, he trained in Barcelona, Spain, and studied under his uncle, Augusto Torres, continuing a lineage that includes his grandfather, the influential modernist Joaquín Torres-García. His work spans painting and sculpture, often inspired by natural landscapes, portraiture, and maritime forms such as wooden ships and vessels. Working primarily in East Hampton, Torres is known for a sensibility rooted in simplicity, craftsmanship, and a close connection to the natural world.

Materials: All materials and easels are the responsibility of participants.
Many plein air artists use oil based paints or water color paints, but participants are encouraged to use any medium they enjoy!

A Musical Playground for the Whole Family (Ages 1 to 99)

What happens when The Wheels on the Bus hops on board with the legendary sounds of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis?

East End Jazz is proud to announce the launch of Tiny Toes &amp; The Jazz Crew; a groundbreaking, interactive concert series designed to bridge the gap between early childhood playtime and the professional performing arts. This multi-generational experience invites families to step into a world where nursery rhymes blend seamlessly with jazz standards, proving that great music knows no age limit.

"We wanted to create a space where the next generation doesn't just listen to music, but feels it," says Iris Ornig, Director of<a target="_blank" href="https://www.eastendjazz.org/" rel="nofollow noopener"> East End Jazz</a>. "By pairing familiar melodies with sophisticated jazz arrangements, we’re inviting families to participate in the rhythm, movement, and spontaneous joy that defines this art form."

This isn't your average performance. The series transforms playtime into a high-level artistic exchange, allowing children to experience jazz through the lens of play. Led by a "Jazz Crew" of professional musicians from Long Island and NYC, the ensemble serves as both performers and mentors, guiding the audience through a journey of syncopation, scat-singing and instrumental discovery.

Seating: Open lawn seating—bring your blankets or beach chairs!
Rain or Shine: In case of rain, the music stays swinging indoors in the gallery.
Note for Families: This is a collaborative experience! All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

This wonderful program is free, but RSVP IS REQUIRED to keep the playground safe and swingin'; for the little ones!
