Ulie Mickens, Neighbor

My name is Franklyn Mickens and I am more than just an athlete. Although sports is a huge part of my life, it isn’t the only thing in my life. Since I was a little kid my parents have stressed the importance of a good education coming before a great sports career. You see, I come from a family with a strong Christian faith. I attend the First Baptist Church of Glen Cove, NY, where Reverend Roger C. Williams is my pastor. I’ve been a member of this church all my life and an usher in the church for the past 6 years. So, you see, in my family, it’s God first, over all things, followed by the importance of family, followed by a good education, followed by sports, in that order.

I will be attending SUNY Purchase in the Fall of 2013 where I will be studying Media and Communications and playing on the college's basketball team.
