They are at full capacity with dogs and need space for more dogs coming in. 🐶&nbsp;Adopters:&nbsp;&nbsp;Please go to the shelter Thursday and Friday&nbsp;(11am to 7pm, arrive by 6pm) and Saturday (10am to 4pm, arrive by 3pm.) Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets 
New Tip: Adopters of pit bulls and pit bull mixes: Review the new requirements and complete the&nbsp;Pet Parenting Certification (that takes about an hour)&nbsp;before going to adopt&nbsp;Pit Bull Terriers&nbsp;and specific bully-type breeds. 🚨 Urgent: Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed to save 25 dogs on the latest urgent list by Tuesday, 5/19.&nbsp;They all need to be adopted or have rescue commitment, and have to leave the shelter by Tuesday (or after spay/neuter.) If no one saves them, they will be euthanized due to being over capacity.&nbsp; As of 5/14 AM: Up to 25 dogs need adopters and fosters! 📢 Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed for 25&nbsp;dogs on the urgent list by Tuesday, 5/19.&nbsp;&nbsp;Please go meet and adopt dogs today. They are at full capacity with dogs and need space for more dogs coming in. Please meet and adopt them during adoption hours on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday.&nbsp;Important: See the&nbsp;Animal Services News&nbsp;(below.)

🐶&nbsp;Adopters:&nbsp;&nbsp;Please go to the shelter Thursday and Friday&nbsp;(11am to 7pm, arrive by 6pm) and Saturday (10am to 4pm, arrive by 3pm.) Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets 
New Tip: Adopters of pit bulls and pit bull mixes: Review the new requirements and complete the&nbsp;Pet Parenting Certification (that takes about an hour)&nbsp;before going to adopt&nbsp;Pit Bull Terriers&nbsp;and specific bully-type breeds. 🚨 Urgent: Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed to save 25 dogs on the latest urgent list by Tuesday, 5/19.&nbsp;They all need to be adopted or have rescue commitment, and have to leave the shelter by Tuesday (or after spay/neuter.) If no one saves them, they will be euthanized due to being over capacity.&nbsp; As of 5/14 AM: Up to 25 dogs need adopters and fosters! Check for updates at the Facebook link. Prince George’s County Animal Services is over capacity, and we need YOUR help more than ever! Volunteers are the heartbeat of our shelter—they walk and train dogs, socialize cats, help with feeding and cleaning, support adoptions at offsite events, and so much more. Without enough volunteers, our animals miss out on the enrichment, love, and exercise they desperately need while waiting for their forever homes.
We have upcoming orientations: Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 5 PM Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10 AM
Teens (14–17 years old) can complete required school service hours (non-animal handling tasks). Adults (18+) can work hands-on with animals after orientation and a facility tour. There will be a flat fee of $20 for rabies vaccination, microchip, or both! Please note: payment will be cash only.

🚨 Urgent: Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed to save 25 dogs on the latest urgent list by today, 5/19.&nbsp;They all need to be adopted or have rescue commitment, and have to leave the shelter by Tuesday (or after spay/neuter.) If no one saves them, they will be euthanized due to being over capacity.&nbsp; As of 5/14 AM: Up to 25 dogs need adopters and fosters! Check for updates at the Facebook link.&nbsp;&nbsp;
