Jim Sherblom released his book, Stories of Concord Volume 2 last month. This lecture at the COA is the last of a four-part lecture series to launch the book. Jim is a resident of Concord. Celebrate a sweet summer afternoon with us at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center! Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Life Care of Acton, an ice cream truck will be in our parking lot from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7th, offering a variety of delicious ice cream novelties for Concord seniors to enjoy. Take your treat home or relax and enjoy it outdoors in our parking lot or come inside the Senior Center to cool off and catch up with friends. This free event is open to all Concord seniors. Reservations are not necessary. Just show up!

Karina Liendo returns to the COA with more stories about her grandmother. Abuela Angela often spoke about her Chilean origins, despite not remembering her birthplace. However, not knowing a place does not mean it is not a part of you. Join us and be part of the experience to discover Abuela’s roots. Bruce Freeman Trail & White Pond (July) |  Massport North (August)  

Wednesday, July 15th 9:00 AM - An easy 2.5-mile walk along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail to a loop through White Pond Reservation. Park and meet at the Ellen Garrison Building at Concord Middle School.
Wednesday, August 19th 9:00 AM – Walk Massport North Section – A 2.5-mile walk on Massport property through Concord and Bedford. The trails are mostly in shady woods. Park and meet at the parking area along the street across from 445 Bedford Street, just beyond the Concord/Bedford town line. Call the COA to sign up AT 978-318-3020.

The <a href="https://www.sudbury.org/4th-of-july-parade" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Sudbury Fourth of July Parade</a> is a long-standing tradition in the town of Sudbury. Dating back to at least 1939, the first Fourth of July Parade kicked off. As you can imagine, this parade looked a little different, being led by horses &amp; buggies, minutemen, militia, and bugles &amp; drums. This marked the start of the incredible tradition that we look forward to year after year. In the late 80s, the parade changed hands from The Town of Sudbury to The Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.
This year's parade is on Saturday, Jul. 4 at 1 p.m. The route is approximately 2.5 miles long.
Frequently Asked Questions about the 2026 parade:&nbsp;
<ul><li>All parade participants MUST enter from Route 20 into Chiswick park and you will be directed on which division you are assigned to.</li><li>The parade route runs from Union Ave (at Chiswick park) to Route 20 E to Concord Rd north to the town center</li><li> A shuttle bus will run from 11 am to 3 pm from the Bus lot at the Town center to Chiswick Park for participants wanting to park their car at the end of the parade.</li><li>Parking is available at the entrance to Chiswick Park (GPS Address 490 Boston post rd) and/or at the Bus lot at Town Center</li><li>The town hall parking lot will be CLOSED to the public, before, during and after the parade</li><li>The parade starts at 1:00&nbsp; and usually lasts between 1 - 2 hours depending on the number of participants</li><li>Road closures:</li><li>Anyone traveling through the area between 12:45 - 4:00 should expect delays</li><li>Throwing Candy: For the safety of all parade attendees and participants, no candy is to be thrown from a moving vehicle.&nbsp; Candy may be thrown from the ground by walkers only.</li></ul>
