Leaving Footprints was founded in 2013 to address the current struggles of many Long Islanders to adequately clothe their families, especially their children. The basic idea is to recycle like-new "Lost and Found" items from Suffolk County schools, sorted and washed, to families that can use them. From there we have branched out to providing gently worn clothing to children (and adults) in the LI migrant population, Native American schools in South Dakota, and children in Kenya and Tanzania.We accept no money, only time from those wishing to help in this mission. For the past few years, we have also represented Chief Joseph ole Tipanko of the ancient Kenyan Maasai tribe, booking his NY fundraisers to provide health, education, and welfare in his Maasai village.
