Your camera has over 400 settings. You need four. The camera company never told you which four.
You bought a nice camera. The photos were supposed to be better. They weren't. So you tried YouTube, tried Auto mode, tried just shooting more. None of that worked because cameras are designed by engineers, not photographers. The four settings you actually need are buried three menus deep.
Photography 1 is a complete photography foundations course. Two days, Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM to 4 PM. You walk in on Saturday shooting in Auto. You walk out Sunday shooting in manual mode and understanding why your photos look the way they do.
This is the same course we run as a six-week series, compressed into one weekend. Same material. Same classroom. Same result. Just faster.
I'm Walter Schnecker. I run C1M Academy in Amherst, NH, a Department of Education licensed school. I’ve worked with 2,000+ students over 20 years, and I specialize in making cameras feel simple.
We start from zero. No experience needed. Bring your camera. If you've been afraid to ask "basic" questions, this is the room where everybody asks them.
October 10th and 11th. 9 AM to 4 PM both days. Amherst, NH. $599.
Bring a friend and they pay half. Split the savings however you want.

Your camera has over 400 settings. You need four. The camera company never told you which four.
They sold you a $1,500 camera with a manual that reads like a tax form. You tried YouTube. You tried Auto mode. You tried just shooting more and hoping something would click.
None of that worked because the problem was never you. The problem is that cameras are designed by engineers, not photographers. The information you actually need is buried three menus deep, and nobody told you it was there.
Imagine picking up your camera, changing four settings, and looking at the back of the screen thinking "I took that?" That's not years away. That's the same afternoon.
There are four settings. Once you understand what they do, your camera stops fighting you. That's not an exaggeration. It's what 2,000 students over 20 years have told me after learning them.
My name is Walter Schnecker. I run C1M Academy in Amherst, NH. We're a New Hampshire Department of Education licensed school. I trained at Leica and I specialize in making cameras feel simple.
I'm running a free, in-person workshop called Introduction to Digital Photography. Two hours. Bring your camera. No experience needed. You'll walk in frustrated with your camera and walk out knowing the four settings that change everything.
Here's what you won't get: a sales pitch for the first 90 minutes. No pressure. No signing anything. I do also teach a six-week photography course for people who want to go deeper. But committing six weeks to a teacher you've never met is a strange ask. So the free workshop is a test drive. Of me. If you like how I teach, the course is there. If you don't, you still leave with two hours of useful knowledge and you lost nothing but a Saturday morning.
Saturday, October 24th. 10:00 AM to noon. Amherst, NH. Free.
Seats are limited because it's a real classroom, not a webinar.

Attention Amherst, Milford, and surrounding NH residents who tried AI and gave up.
If you've opened ChatGPT, typed something in, read what came back, and thought "this sounds nothing like a human being wrote it"... this is for you.
Imagine asking AI to write a thank-you note to your neighbor and it actually sounds like you wrote it. Imagine using it to organize a trip, draft an email, or research a topic in half the time it normally takes, and the results are actually useful. Not robotic. Not weird. Not embarrassing.
That's what happens when you know what to say to it.
Here's where most people are instead: they opened ChatGPT or Google Gemini because everyone said they should. They typed something in. What came back sounded like a greeting card written by a microwave. They tried again. Same thing. They closed the tab and haven't gone back.
Or worse, they haven't tried at all because the whole thing feels like it's moving too fast and they've already missed the window.
You haven't missed anything. You're just missing one piece: how to talk to AI so it gives you what you actually want.
My name is Walter Schnecker. I run C1M Academy in Amherst, NH. We're a New Hampshire Department of Education-licensed school. I've taught over 2,000 students across 20+ years. I hold credentials from Johns Hopkins in neuroscience and specialize in making complicated technology feel simple.
I'm running an in-person workshop called Introduction to Artificial Intelligence. $49. 90 minutes. No jargon. No laptop required. You'll see where AI came from, why the scare tactics in the headlines are manufactured, and how to start using it that same afternoon.
Here's what you won't get: a sales pitch for the first 90 minutes. No pressure. No signing anything. I do also teach a six-week AI course for people who want to go deeper. But committing six weeks to a teacher you've never met is a strange ask. So the workshop is a test drive. Of me. If you like how I teach, the course is there. SHOWROOM

The Monadnock International Film Festival (MONIFF) returns to Keene for its fourteenth annual festival with an expanded slate of 100+ features and shorts. The 2026 festival will take place October 2-4 in downtown Keene at the Showroom, Keene Public Library, Birdies, Brewbakers/Nova Arts, and, for the first time, the Cheshire County Historical Society. The 10-day virtual program runs from October 6-15.
The films will fall into the following tracks: foreign films, regional and local films, and social issue films. They showcase compelling stories from around the world, including France, Austria, China, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Bermuda, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Switzerland, and Italy. Films dealing with poverty, the criminalization of people experiencing homelessness, the current political climate, and voting rights will be screened, followed by Q&A discussions with guest filmmakers. Academy Award winner Ernest Thompson (On Golden Pond) and Emmy winner Gordon Clapp, with Lisa Bostnar, star in “The Constituent,” a sharp, funny tale of a prolific letter writer who gets a (not so) friendly visit from the recipient of his ire, a United States Senator. Q&A follows, moderated by Dan White of Florentine Films.
A festival highlight is the Jonathan Daniels awards ceremony on Saturday night. In honor of Keene’s Civil Rights hero, this annual award is given to a filmmaker whose film combines artistic excellence with awareness of a social justice issue. In partnership with Monadnock Grown, this year’s award will go to the documentary “Fork in the Road,” which celebrated its World Premiere at the Sonoma International Film Festival and is a Redford Center-supported film screened at the Climate Film Festival in NYC. Co-directed by Vivian Sorenson and Jonathan Nastasi, with narration by Nick Offerman, the film follows small farmers, visionary chefs, and innovators working to heal the land, improve our food systems, and transition to a regenerative future for people and the planet.

“MONIFF is committed to giving exposure to local and regional filmmakers whose films often fly under the radar while also bringing significant independent films like Adams Apple, Fork in the Road, People vs. Politics, and Tails of the Himalayas…of Dogs & Devotees to the Monadnock region,” said Deirdre Fitzgerald, MONIFF board chair and festival programmer.

Opening night at 6:00 pm at the SHOWROOM brings a special screening of “Not a Photograph: The Mission of Burma Story,” which documents the resurrection of the seminal post-punk band Mission of Burma, beginning in 2002 and continuing to the present. Following the film screening and Q&A, audience members can head to NOVA ARTS/Brewbakers for a special concert featuring Roger Clark Miller, guitarist/vocalist/co-leader in the highly influential post-punk band Mission of Burma.

“Tails of the Himalayas…of Dogs & Devotees,” directed by four-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Harpreet Kaur, will screen on Saturday, October 3, at the Showroom followed by a Q&A moderated by Kathy Collinsworth, Executive Director of the Monadnock Humane Society. As part of the film’s #PressForPaws campaign, local rescue dogs will walk the festival’s red carpet on Friday, October 2, starting at 5:00 pm. The documentary explores the devoted relationships between street dogs and their human caregivers in the Himalayas, capturing a moving portrait of loyalty, faith, and community resilience. Following its international premiere at the BAFTA-qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival in Wales, the film is launching its U.S. festival tour to celebrate compassion and animal advocacy.

Films that highlight little-known history and the people at their center include “Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story” about Bermudian teenager Clyde Best, who broke into England’s First Division Football (Soccer) and became the first Black superstar of football/soccer’s modern television era. Enduring racism while inspiring millions, Best emerged as the Jackie Robinson of English football, breaking barriers through his on-field excellence and quiet resilience. Another film, “The Last Seat in the House,” explores the life and legacy of Bill Hanley, the pioneering sound engineer known as the “Father of Festival Sound.” Hanley will join director John Kane for the Q&A.
