The Waukegan Arts Council, formed in 2010, is a nonprofit organization which serves as an umbrella arts and cultural organization for the community. The arts council's mission is to advance the economic, social, and cultural life of Waukegan through the arts. Working closely with local businesses, elected officials, artists and arts organizations, the arts council strives to make Waukegan a better place to live, work and play. Waukegan Arts Council works to educate, collaborate, network and promote the arts movement in Waukegan, and has developed a website and an online calendar of events. As part of its mission, Waukegan Arts Council provides programs to enhance the community's awareness and appreciation for the arts.
