Join us for&nbsp;Curiosity Club, a monthly adventure for curious Kindergarteners - 2nd Graders and their grown-ups!&nbsp;
Each month, this engaging program will explore a new, exciting topic—from quirky animals and unusual inventions to faraway places and strange-but-true facts. Through books, hands-on activities, and snacks, we’ll uncover surprising stories and fascinating discoveries that spark imagination and wonder.
This month we'll explore the science of sound!
Adults are required to stay with their child/ren throughout the program. Younger and/or older siblings are welcome.

This month we will be discussing Magic Tree House: a Big Day for Baseball and make baseball cookies.

Pick up your copy of the book at the beginning of the month and join Ms. Eileen on the fourth Monday of the month.

At the meeting, we discuss the book and do an activity related to the topic.
This month we will be discussing I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916.

What's a crankie? Come enjoy a evening of music, song, and dance, and find out! Long-time old-time musicians and dancers, Box &amp; String Duo will show us all the ways we used to entertain ourselves before there were screens, including the first "moving pictures," or crankie. Their musical roots are traditions from the American Appalachians, England, Canada, Scandinavia, and France, and they play a collection of instruments including guitar, 4- and 5-string banjo, mandolin, concertina, melodeon, fiddle, harmonica, jaw harp, and foot percussion.

Discover how sewing shaped American life before ready-to-wear fashion.&nbsp;Based on the DAR Museum’s 2024 exhibition, this program examines the way in which American women (and men) from the 18th and 19th centuries learned and deployed their sewing skills to furnish their households, earn livings, and express themselves, with contemporary examples of the themes explored.&nbsp;Select garments will be highlighted during the program to show different ways the nation’s birthdays have been celebrated.
Presented by Liz Bauer, a volunteer docent of the DAR Museum in Washington, D.C.&nbsp;She lives in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia with her husband and two young sons. Liz also volunteers as a garden educator at a local arboretum. As a&nbsp;sewing&nbsp;enthusiast, she is always interested in learning new&nbsp;sewing&nbsp;skills and techniques. &nbsp;

Revolution 101: The History of American Independence (Part 3)

The Sesqui Sinks.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition of 1926, held in South Philadelphia, was meant to be the greatest world's fair since the 1876 Centennial.&nbsp; Thanks to political corruption, greed, egotism, and the wettest summer on record, it became a crumbling, sodden, bankrupt mess, Philadelphia's "forgotten fair."&nbsp; The Sesqui served as a symbol for the city's monolithic Republican Organization, where one boss (Congressman William S. Vare, the "Duke of South Philadelphia") could kidnap an entire world's fair and transfer it from the newly completed Fairmount Parkway to the swamps of South Philly, his congressional district.&nbsp; This talk also explores how the Sesqui became an unwitting battleground for many of the social struggles convulsing America in the 1920s: racism, anti-Semitism, women's rights, the Ku Klux Klan, eugenics, and Prohibition.&nbsp;
