• Davis County deputies excavate back yard of former police officer in search of cold case victim (ksl.com) — Investigators recently dug up the former East Layton home of an ex-police officer while pursuing new leads in the 51-year-old disappearance of gas station attendant Nancy Perry Baird. Although no remains were found, Davis County detectives still consider the onetime East Layton officer a person of interest and are asking anyone with knowledge of 1970s East Layton events to come forward.
   

• Ex-Daycare Workers Face Assault Charges (oafnation.com) — A Layton woman and two other former daycare workers at Hill Air Force Base are facing federal misdemeanor assault charges over alleged mistreatment of toddlers in 2022 and 2023. Prosecutors say surveillance footage shows rough handling and other troubling behavior, while emphasizing that all three remain presumed innocent as they head to arraignments in Salt Lake City this month.
