Friends and neighbors quickly dug a trench to divert rising water from their doors, while forecasters warn that saturated soils mean additional rain could trigger more rapid flooding in the area.
• Hurricane Polo's remnants bringing more rain to US Southwest (lewistownsentinel.com) — Remnants of Hurricane Polo are driving widespread flooding across the Southwest, and in Orderville one family watched the Virgin River sweep around their house, carrying off a camper, trailer, and yard items. Neighbors rushed in to dig a trench as water reached the front doors, underscoring how saturated ground and continued rain could keep local flood risks elevated for days.
