• Salt Lake City moves to designate Gilgal Sculpture Garden as a landmark site – The Daily Utah Chronicle (dailyutahchronicle.com) — Salt Lake City is moving to officially designate Gilgal Sculpture Garden as a local landmark, after the Planning Commission unanimously backed the proposal and sent it to the City Council. Supporters say landmark status and a National Register nomination would better protect the garden's unusual religious sculptures from future changes, while Friends of Gilgal continue curating and caring for the delicate site.
• Utah Chalk Art Festival (artistsofutah.org) — Salt Lake City families can head to The Gateway on Saturday, September 5, to watch artists turn Rio Grande Street into a colorful chalk mural gallery. The free Utah Chalk Art Festival features live large-scale works, a Kids Corner, and visiting artists, including 3-D chalk specialist Erik Greenawalt.
