Barriers down, Temple Square expands public access ahead of general conference (deseret.com) — If you're heading downtown, Temple Square's north side and North Temple in Salt Lake City are now open again after nearly seven years of construction barriers. With new pathways, statues, and expanded public access, visitors can move more freely during general conference and start planning ahead for next year's extensive Salt Lake Temple open house, with timed tickets being released in waves.
   

2. Salt Lake City seeks creative funding options as Liberty Park upgrades could cost $41M (ksl.com) — Salt Lake City leaders are weighing how to fund up to $41 million in long-term upgrades to Liberty Park, including new trees, safer paths, and a replacement greenhouse. With recent property tax hikes fresh in mind, the city is eyeing grants, sponsorships, and public‑private partnerships so the heavily used park can be modernized without overburdening taxpayers.
   

3. FanX concludes its 2026 weekend at Salt Palace (abc4.com) — FanX wrapped up its 2026 convention weekend at the Salt Palace in downtown Salt Lake City, drawing big crowds of cosplayers, celebrity guests, and genre fans. Attendees praised the friendly atmosphere, free activities, and packed vendor floor, even as they prepare for renovations that will shrink the venue's capacity when FanX returns for a smaller spring event in March 2027.
   

4. Police investigate shooting incident in Salt Lake City (abc4.com) — Salt Lake City police are investigating gunfire reported early Saturday near 565 South and 600 West, close to the Salt Lake Central FrontRunner station. Officers found shell casings and linked three vehicles to the incident, with one fleeing and one cooperating. No injuries have been reported as detectives continue their investigation.
   

5. B'Nai Israel Temple religious legacy lives on in Salt Lake Art Museum (ksl.com) — Salt Lake City's former B'nai Israel Temple now houses the Salt Lake Art Museum, where an opening exhibit explores the building's Jewish roots. The story traces Jewish life in the city from the 1850s through the congregation's evolution into today's Kol Ami. Despite renovations, many original architectural details remain, and the space still occasionally hosts Jewish services.
