Sugar House Santa Shack needs a new home (fox13now.com) — Salt Lake City's longtime Sugar House Santa Shack, a Christmas staple for nearly 80 years, has to move because of nearby UTA S‑Line construction. The owner and devoted families are scrambling to secure a new Sugar House‑area home and figure out how to physically relocate the 18‑foot‑tall shack so the tradition can continue for future generations.
3. Maxwell Power Moves its Headquarters to Utah from California and Secures Another $800 Million for Solar and Battery Projects (utahmoneywatch.com) — Maxwell Power has shifted its corporate headquarters from San Diego to Salt Lake City while announcing an additional $800 million commitment for its solar and battery‑storage projects. The move brings another growing clean‑energy company, backed by $1.8 billion in project funding, into Utah's capital, though details on local hiring and operations remain unclear.
4. The kickass life is never over (slugmag.com) — A Salt Lake City emo band called kickass, formed by three roommates active in the local scene, is building momentum after releasing their debut EP Life = OVER in May. Rooted in SLC's underground venues and snowboard culture, they're refining their sound at home, playing shows, and planning a new track tied to a snowboard video dropping this October.
5. Several I-215 ramps close for bridge work in Salt Lake County (ksl.com) — Major ramp closures on I-80, I-215, SR-201 and Redwood Road near Salt Lake City start at 4 a.m. Tuesday and will last about 20 days, significantly affecting commutes. UDOT suggests using I-15 and Bangerter Highway as alternate routes while crews rebuild several bridges as part of the long-running I-215 West Improvement Project.
