1. Fees will triple for developers. How might that impact Salt Lake City homeowners and renters? (sltrib.com) — Salt Lake City's utility impact fees on new construction will roughly triple over the next two years, as the City Council shifts more of the cost of water and sewer upgrades onto developers. While officials say the change is about fairness and funding aging infrastructure, residents and builders warn higher fees and existing rate hikes could still push up housing costs and monthly bills.
2. $50K approved as flooded families await a way home (fox13now.com) — Salt Lake City has approved $50,000 in extra aid for Poplar Grove families whose homes were flooded by a broken water main, with funds aimed at temporary housing, stabilization, and some repairs. Several houses remain unsafe or uninhabited, and residents describe living in rentals, RVs, and damaged structures while negotiating individual damage claims with the city and awaiting long-term solutions.
3. Prosperity U partners with Salt Lake City Public Lands to replant after Bonneville Fire – The Daily Utah Chronicle (dailyutahchronicle.com) — Salt Lake City's Public Lands Department is working with the University of Utah's Prosperity U Initiative to replant native cacti and stabilize hillsides burned in June's Bonneville Fire above the medical campus.
