The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.

Hey, people of Salt Lake City! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Salt Lake City Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and breezy. High: 74 Low: 47.

Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:

  1. Salt Lake County is looking for over 200 lifeguards as summer nears. Salt Lake County parks and recreation manages 19 indoor and outdoor pools but some may not be able to open this season because they're having a very tough time hiring lifeguards. County leaders are incentivizing folks to apply this year by offering $11 an hour just for the training if you make the cut. After being hired, hourly wages can increase to as much as $16 an hour. 2. On Wednesday morning, an Amber Alert was issued after a mother in South Salt Lake allegedly refused to hand over her children to the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, and instead fled with the kids and their grandmother. According to the Amber Alert, law enforcement officials believed the children's lives "may be in danger." The alert has since been canceled as all four children have been safely located and both suspects are currently in custody at this time. (ABC4.com)
  3. A 28-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly possessing a stolen vehicle and assaulting a Salt Lake Police Officer. The incident occurred on Wednesday, Apr. 20, and the suspect, Hung Nguyen, is facing numerous charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, failure to stop at the command of a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and interference with an arresting officer.
