π± Decades Old Murder Case Solved Over Lunch + Pop-up Bakery In SLC
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.
Hello, Salt Lake City! I'm here in your inbox per usual to get you caught up on everything you need to know about what's going on around town.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny and very warm. High: 85 Low: 59.
Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:
- What happens when two retired police detectives meet for lunch and reminisce over past unsolved homicide cases? They solve them. With jogged memories and new hunches from that lunch chat, Salt Lake police solved a 48-year-old cold case homicide. That crime was also linked to another murder in Summit County that occurred just a few years later. (KSL.com)
- Piroshky Piroshky is the beloved Russian bakery pop-up that has taken Seattle by storm. But now it's headed to Salt Lake City as part of a national tour. The bakery will pop up in Utah in two separate locations, the first being in Salt Lake City at Salt Fire Brewing Co. June 22 and then it will pop up in Provo the next day before it leaves the state. The Smithsonian crowned it one of "The 20 Most Iconic Food Destinations Across America" and it's been featured on Anthony Bourdain's and Andrew Zimmern's travel food shows. (ABC4.com)
- As schools across the nation grapple with the tragedy of another deadly school shooting, the Granite School District in Utah is discussing safety measures it's taking as it currently renovates some of its schools. Some of the work being done to school buildings under reconstruction in the district include technology updates that provide stricter access to the classroom and more secure entryways as well as new security cameras and systems. If you have any outdoor plans, be sure you check the weather forecast before heading out. Details are still being ironed out." (US National Weather Service Salt Lake City Utah)
