Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:

  1. Garth Brooks is heading back to Rice Eccles Stadium on Jun. 18. According to Brooks, he decided to return to Salt Lake City to give his fans who missed his show last year a chance to attend. In a video sent to FOX 13 News, Brooks stated, "[the last concert was] one the greatest times I've ever had," promising to make his return a party. (FOX 13 News Utah)

  3. Just a few days after the first case of a new bird flu was detected in Utah, Tracy Aviary is taking precautions to protect birds in the region. Given the low risk to humans, aviary staff say the precautions won't prevent people from visiting but instead aim to reduce contact for birds at the aviary with wild birds that can fly in. (KSL.com)

Today in Salt Lake City:

  • 2022 Women's Entrepreneurial Conference & Final Grant Pitch Round - Women's Business Center (All Day)
  • Planning Commission Meeting - City of Mill Creek (5:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Sunny days in Utah mean hiking! As the hiking season begins, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources wants to remind dog owners to keep their dogs leashed while hiking so they don't chase wildlife. Dogs that are off-leash can disturb nesting ground birds and can chase, injure or kill small mammals, deer, elk or moose. (Facebook)
  • After hearing what the Utah Symphony was capable of, composer Arlene Sierra stretched her wings and pushed her artistic and technical capabilities to give us the unforgettable world premiere of "Bird Symphony." (Instagram)
  • The US National Weather Service based in Salt Lake City is advising locals of a mixed bag of weather throughout the week with a couple of precipitation chances. Expect calm and pleasant weather midweek. (Facebook)
