The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.
Good day, neighbors! Joseph Peterson here with the latest edition of the Salt Lake City Daily.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny and cooler. High: 56 Low: 40.
Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:
- Granite School District has ratified a settlement package this week in a move to be more effective at recruiting and retaining educators to work for the district in a time when cost of living, especially for the Salt Lake area, is on the rise. Among the adjustments ratified is an increased salary for first-time teachers, which saw a $2,000 bump. (KSL.com)
- You may have drooled at the sign near the door for Yoko Taco on the corner of 300 W and 800 S in Salt Lake for at least a couple years now, wondering when the fusion taco joint on the ground floor of the RUTH apartments would open. The owners wondered too, since COIVD hit just as they were preparing to move forward with their third food project along the Wasatch Front. But they reworked everything from price points and to-go options tailored to the current climate, and recently opened for business. (Subscription: Salt Lake Tribune)
- Two Salt Lake nonprofit organizations are coming together to provide free animal boarding services to pet owners who find themselves in need of addiction treatment. Ruff Haven Crisis Sheltering and Odyssey House of Utah are partnering so that the humans receiving help can better focus on themselves, knowing their pets are being cared for. "It made my treatment at Odyssey so much easier," one resident said. (ABC4.com)
