🌱New Mental Health Resource For SLCPD + Pride Center CEO Resigns

  1. The city's police department has hired a full-time mental health care professional available to officers 24/7, a move which the department says will not only benefit police personnel, but in turn, the community and neighborhoods they serve. Police Chief Mike Brown said having this role within the department helps lessen the stigma around seeking mental help as well.(KJZZ)
  2. The Utah Pride Center's new CEO resigns after just five months into the job, citing health and family as reasons for an early departure. A Utah native who returned to her home state from Washington D.C. to lead the center entered the job amidst controversy, coronavirus, and canceled fundraisers. (Subscription: Salt Lake Tribune)
  3. The owner of the property at the northwest corner of Sugar House Park where the old Sizzler building is, wants to put a gas station on it across the street from an existing gas station. Currently zoned as "Community Business," a gas station requires conditional approval. (Building Salt Lake)
  4. Two of Utah's biggest craft beer brands are set to fall under new ownership, including Utah Brewers Coop (Squatters / Wasatch), which is part of a "monster" 330-million dollar acquisition by Monster Energy drinks.
