Part Two – Kasey McKillip Interview: Life, Work, and Finding His Place in Salt Lake City
After making Salt Lake City his new home, Kasey McKillip opens up about what he hopes this next chapter will bring.
In part one, when Kasey McKillip spoke about his move to Salt Lake City, he talked about the mountains, the trails, his three dogs, and the unexpected ease of combining city life with the outdoors.
But settling into a new city is about more than finding a favorite hiking trail.
“The move has also meant finding a new routine between work and life, staying connected to the things I’ve always enjoyed, while embracing new things,” McKillip says.

After more than a decade working as an MRI technologist, McKillip has developed a career that requires focus, patience, and long hours indoors so outside of work he looks for alternate ways to recharge.This contrast has become an important part of his Salt Lake City experience.
It’s not only McKillip who’s had to adjust to life in Salt Lake City but his three dogs as well.
“It’s taken a while but Salt Lake City is now home for them as well. They’ve adjusted as well as possibly we could have hoped for.“

One thing that hasn’t changed is McKillip’s love for Seattle sports teams. The Mariners were were in contention for a wild card spot until their season unraveled while the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks opened their season off with a win in a Super Bowl rematch against the New England Patriots.
“Sadly it wasn't to be for the Mariners this season,” he says. "Things didn't go their way and now they have to reboot for next season. It is a shame because here and there they showed sparks of brilliance but baseball is a long season and you have to be incredibly consistent over a long amount of time."
“As for the Seahawks, last year was an incredible season. I can’t believe how quickly the season has come back and can't wait to see if they can make it back to back! There is every chance they can but injuries and lack make it all so random so we will have to wait and see.”
Later in the year will come the chance for McKillip to cheer on the two Utah teams - the Jazz in the NBA and the Mammoth in the NHL.
"I'm excited to have local hockey and basketball teams to cheer on and support."
Till then, McKillip continues to explore what Salt Lake City has to offer where the biggest change is that Salt Lake City no longer feels like simply a place he moved to but is starting feel like home.
