Philanthropy Medals - We Don't Need The Trophy and Recognition

When it comes to philanthropy, we don't need a trophy. The smiles from those we help is enough. Article written by Ryan Van Wagenen.

When it comes to achievement, a lot of times we like to receive recognition and praise. Who doesn't? Answer, not a single person doesn't like to hear they've done a great job with whatever it is that they are doing. Is it a bad thing to want praise? I think not. However, sometimes the need for praise can ruin the motive as to why we are doing the good. When it comes to philanthropy, seeing the smiles on the person or people we are helping should be the praise we are seeking.

There are many opportunities to help in the coming weeks. One great event coming up is the Art Therapy Workshop for those struggling with family building on January 20th. Not only is this a free event, but this is great cause and a way to make a difference. Share your talents and your time - expression, connection, creativity, and healing are the core of this great event.

Through this event, participants will have the chance to build their own unique art and represent themselves and their families by building a journey that brings healing to the recipients. Whether or not you've faced some of the difficulties of those that will be receiving your art, come spend some time bringing peace and happiness to others. Some of the causes that will be focused on are infertility, pregnancy loss, among many others. The goal here is to have everyone feel love and support of the community here in SLC. Materials will be provided to help create these masterpieces. The group recommends bringing any meaningful or symbolic pieces that you may want to incorporate into your art.

Below is some great feedback the group got post their last event:
- “This workshop really brought out a lot of feelings I didn’t know I had. I was able to express those feelings in a productive way...”
- “Definitely want to do this again. Love taking time away from day to day stress.”
- “Thank you for creating a safe environment with no judgment and with resources to take the edge off things!”
- “I loved the workshop! I have never tried doing art for fertility and I feel like it has helped me to find that outlet.”

Sounds like this could be a good one - Definitely come if you can make it. Lets definitely continue to reach our New Years resolutions and collectively make 2018 the year of giving.
