π± Salmonella At Midvale Market + 7-Story Building East Of Downtown?
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.
Rise and shine, Salt Lake City! It's Tuesday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on around town today.
First, today's weather:
Chilly; a little morning rain. High: 44 Low: 29.
Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:
- A foodborne illness investigation is underway after the Utah Department of Agriculture found Salmonella enterica in ground beef products at International Marketplace in Midvale. The bacteria was discovered in tested samples on March 31, which led to the testing of more products that also turned out to be contaminated. From those lab results, the recommendation is that any ground beef products purchased from that location between March 22 to March 31 should not be consumed and should be thrown away or returned to the store. - More architectural height is expected outside the downtown core of buildings as a developer plans to add 150 new apartments to an expanding corridor just southeast of SLC's downtown. The Australian developer, fresh off of projects in Dallas and Denver, looks to bring the 7-story building to 150 E and 700 S, where five stories would contain the residences atop two stories of amenities like a co-working space and a workout room as well as parking. The building will feature a mix of one and two-bedroom units as well as 40 studios. (Building Salt Lake)
- In case you missed it, it was recently reported that the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City is one of just nine authorities across the country to receive federal funding to expand its human rights housing. Human rights housing is a category of housing designed to combat human trafficking by helping victims confidentially move away from their traffickers and exploiters into an affordable housing situation where other basic services are provided.
