Salt Lake City School District's West High Teacher Wins Diversity Award

West was one of 831 schools to be recognized for Computer Science principles.

West High School and computer science teacher Nicole Reitz-Larsen have earned the College Board's AP Computer Science female Diversity Award for expanding women's access to AP Computer Science principles. College Board recognized 1,119 schools for their work toward equal gender representation during the 2019-2020 school year. West was one of 831 schools to be recognized for Computer Science principles.

From College Board: “New Research shows that female students who take AP Computer Science are more likely to major in computer science in college compared with matched peers. Through your leadership in diversifying computer science education, you’re preparing your female students for the high-paying, in-demand jobs of the future and giving them the opportunity to help solve some of society’s most challenging problems.”
