🌱 SLC's Farmers Market Is Back + Fatal Apartment Fire Cause Now Known

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.

Hello, everybody! Joseph Peterson here with your Wednesday edition of the Salt Lake City Daily, filled with everything you need to know about what's going on in town.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and comfortable. High: 73 Low: 52.

Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:

  1. A rollover semi-truck crash has left a road spill with an unidentified (as of this writing) red liquid that has resulted in the blocking of a few I-15 ramps. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the rolled semi is blocking several lanes on 3300 S under I-15. Some have reopened, but alternate routes are still suggested. (ABC4.com)
  2. Saturday will mark a big return of Utah's largest farmers market as it comes roaring "fully back" to Pioneer Park with more than 250 food, arts and crafts vendors. For the farmers and produce sellers, the market represents more than an opportunity to profit off of their labor, but it's a meaningful connection with the community as well. The market itself has plans this year to expand to more days and other park locations. (KSL.com)
  3. A fatal apartment fire in Salt Lake City now has a known cause. The explosion and subsequent fire at the Silverado Apartments at 243 South 300 East, which claimed one life and injured others including firemen, was caused by someone smoking too close to oxygen tanks. This comes as no surprise to neighbors who told authorities Monday that this was a likely cause. Fire investigators believe the person who died was the person smoking. Two other people were hospitalized and while one has been released, the other is still in critical condition. (2 KUTV)
