🌱 Social Club To Open This Summer + Statewide Drought Declaration

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.

Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Salt Lake City Daily.

First, today's weather:

Cooler with showers. High: 53 Low: 40.

Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:

  1. Social Clubs are making a resurgence in major cities across the U.S. from LA to Miami, and now Salt Lake City is part of the list. Near the corner of 300 West and 200 South, a three-story building will soon become the home to "Edison House," a social club that was dreamt up by Salt Lake natives George Cardon-Bystry and his brother in 2018. Renderings of the building show four bars, two restaurants, a performance venue, a fitness center, a rooftop pool and bar, and more. Edison House is slated to open in late summer 2022. 2. Just one year after Gov. Spencer Cox made a public plea to Utahns to pray for rain, Gov. Cox ordered another emergency declaration over Utah's drought situation. The order issued on Thursday mirrors one issued last year, opening the process for communities, farmers, and anyone else affected by the drought to request government resources. Utah's reservoirs are currently 59 percent of capacity statewide, while the state's snowpack levels are now 70 percent of normal for this point in the year. (KSL.com)
  3. According to Salt Lake City Police, a woman is in critical condition after being stabbed on Thursday. At around 7:30 a.m., someone called the police to report an unconscious woman in an alley near 280 E. Hampton Ave. The woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries consistent with a stabbing, according to Salt Lake police detective Michelle Mechling. (KSL.com)
