The University of Utah will begin implementing a new $75 late registration fee for all continuing degree-seeking students, starting with the Spring 2022 semester. The $75 fee will be waived for all students who have registered by the open enrollment date—Nov. 29, 2021.

The new fee is being assessed to encourage students to register on time, which helps departments and colleges better plan and manage classroom space. All continuing students are given the advantage of early registration by appointment. For the upcoming spring semester, the early registration period lasts from Nov. 4 to Nov. 17.

The registration fee will be assessed for all future fall and spring semesters, but will be waived for students who register prior to the open enrollment registration date published in each academic calendar. Students who register for summer classes will not be required to pay the late registration fee. The fee also will be applied to departments that manage enrollment on behalf of their students, including the David Eccles School of Business MBA program and professional schools (Dentistry, Law, and Medicine).

Students will only be required to have started the registration process by registering for at least one course and will still be able to register after the open enrollment period and make schedule changes through the add/drop change deadlines for each semester.
