🌱 Utah's Big Seat Belt Enforcement Strategy + New Plan For Fairpark

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.

Hey, Salt Lake City! It's Thursday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on today in Salt Lake City.

First, today's weather:

Not as warm in the afternoon. High: 75 Low: 40.

Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:

  1. Despite skyrocketing housing costs, Salt Lake City has been ranked among U.S. News and World Report's "Best Cities to Live in the U.S." list, again. For the second year in a row, Utah's capital city comes in at No. 23, the same ranking it received last year. Based on five indexes, SLC's job market and quality of life index scores were among the nation's highest. (FOX 13 News Utah)
  2. An almost existential problem of the Utah State Fairpark has been how to attract visitors when the State Fair isn't going on. Now, the Fairpark has a new master plan, including new housing, a Ferris wheel and a hotel. While the historic barns will stay, the plan calls for a new exposition hall as well as a zip line, rock wall and a new grand entrance. (Salt Lake Tribune)
  3. Buckle up. Seat belt use in Utah has declined 2% since 2019 from 90% to 88% and with that decrease, auto-related fatalities have risen. In response, the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS), Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), and Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) have released a statement announcing 480 additional shifts to increase seat belt enforcement across the state during the summer months.
