π± Why Garth Brooks Is Already Coming Back To SLC + Downtown Roadwork
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.
Rise and shine, Salt Lake City! Let's get you started this Friday with everything you need to know going on today in town.
First, today's weather:
A couple of morning showers. High: 58 Low: 39.
Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:
- Salt Lake City residents who live downtown along 200 S. are bracing themselves for protracted road construction projects slated to last until the end of 2023. This newsletter first featured the major revamp happening along the 200 S. corridor through downtown and in an earlier newsletter this week we highlighted the water pipe replacement project along State Street by the Capitol as well. But the road work doesn't end there. Here's a list of current street projects in Salt Lake City. (2 KUTV)
- Local writer Wes Long takes a deep dive into the history of Utah's public libraries. In Salt Lake City it's a history of competing interests and divided creeds, but one indelibile truth rises to the top through the decades of Utah libraries asserting their essential role a center gathering place for the communities they serve: Libraries have so much more going on beyond books. (City Weekly)
- Garth Brooks is returning to the Beehive State less than a year after his last concert in Utah. The reason? When asked why he said his 2021 SLC Concert was "one the greatest times I've ever had." Of course it doesn't hurt that when tickets went for sale last year, they sold out in less than 10 minutes and about 90% of would-be concert-goers didn't get their tickets. Brooks announced this week he'll be returning to Rice-Eccles Stadium June 17.
