🌱 Will SLC Skyscrapers Get Even Taller? + Pet Safety In The Utah Heat

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Salt Lake City.

Welcome back, Salt Lake City! I'm here in your inbox per usual to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on around town. Let's dive right in.

First, today's weather:

Sun mixing with clouds. High: 93 Low: 67.

Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:

  1. Salt Lake animal officials are working to remind residents to keep pets safe in the heat. Sometimes it doesn't even take a lot of heat. On a 70-degree day, for example, all it takes is about 10 minutes for a car to heat up to 116 degrees. Review what to do when you see dogs alone in cars, and what best practices to be aware about with your pets in this review. (KJZZ)
  2. This weekend will mark the summer season opening of the Utah Olympic Park near Park City. the park features activities like extreme tubing, ropes courses zip lines, the Summer Bobsled Experience and the famed Alpine Slide, just to name a few. As part of the opening event, there will be a team of 20 professional divers to put on a High Dive Exhibit. (Gephardt Daily)
  3. We may just be scratching the surface of new heights for downtown skyscrapers in Salt Lake. As downtown grows, city planners are proposing updates that include clearances for even taller buildings that won't need to go through an additional layer of approvals and permissions. Other aspects of the proposed changes include the amount of greenery in public spaces and the sizes of parking lots. (Building Salt Lake)
