• University of Utah's Sandy campus to close, leaving students with longer commutes (fox13now.com) — Students who rely on the University of Utah's Sandy Center will lose the campus on Jan. 1, 2027, forcing many into longer commutes to Salt Lake City or online classes. About 600 students, including high schoolers and college athletes, say the Sandy location's affordability, proximity, and evening options have been crucial, and now must scramble to adjust after statewide budget cuts.
• RSL signs leading scorer Sergi Solans to extension (abc4.com) — Real Salt Lake, based in Sandy, has locked up leading scorer Sergi Solans with a contract extension through at least the 2029–30 season, keeping a breakout young star in Utah. The 23-year-old forward already has 11 goals this year and says he's grateful for local fan support as RSL pushes for trophies and prepares for a Leagues Cup quarterfinal.
